Coorg - Madikeri & around
Overview of the destination
Visit Madikeri/Mercara, Coorg district and enjoy good weather and hospitality. It is 120 KM from Mysore which is well connected by train, bus and air. Visit famous tourist places leisurely.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping
I stayed in Hotel Chitra , School road, Madikeri, even advanced booking through phone can be done. Rooms are neat , comparatively cheap, good reception and helping staff. Traditional food is available at Krishna Bhavan, downstairs. It is centrally situated. Vist Talakaveri, take a bath there - religious and exhilarating too. (40 Km) Then go to Bogamandala while coming from there where Kaveri meets Sujothsna and kannige and the depth is just 5-6 feet and swim to your heart with children. They would love. Visit Omkareshwarananda temple and take rest in hotel. In the evening visit Raja's seat and if lucky, you can see the sun set. The flowers are wonderful, so also the musical fountain. You can also go for Dubare forest (start at 9 a.m.). You can go for boating, see bathing of elephants, rafting and also go for elephant safari. Visit Tibetan temple and on the way or on return see Harangi dam (no water at present). Go to Abbey falls, not much water and height. Well, you can buy Coorg coffee at Rs.90 per half a kilo (very nice and tasty as I am using it now in Chennai after my return) and also Coorg Honey. In the market, they are more expensive.

Activities & things to do
Enjoy the climate. Take safari in Dubare forest. Buy coffee powder and honey.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
Go from Mysore and it is 120 kms. They charge at least Rs.2000/ in Tata Indica from Mysore station. Bargain . We, eight of us got a Chevrolet Tavera for Rs. 1750/ from B.S.Transport, Mysore. The local cars charge Rs. 8 per k.m. If you have strength and energy, one can visit Kukke Subrahmanya, Dharmasthala, Udupi, Augumbe,Sringeri, Horanad, Belur, Halabedu, Hasan, Ramanathapura (nice place to swim in the river) and Mysore. But it is better to go from Mangalore to these places in the reverse order and finally take rest in Madikeri and then to Mysore and back home. All the best.
