Daman Beaches
Overview of the destination
The glory of Saurashtra beaches is at its serene best in the beaches of Daman. Remember Daman, union territory of India, squeezed between Gujarat and Maharashtra, a geographic entity that we would come across in our ?map-pointing?? Well Daman even though being just a 4-5 hrs drive from Pune and around half of that from Mumbai, luckily remains unspoilt and is just the perfect place to enjoy the beauty of sea with a dash of ancient history thrown in! Explore the three main beaches -Devka beach, Jampore beach and Nani Daman and the forts and churches in Daman.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping
Devka beach is the most sought-after option with its amusement park and colourful fountain. However if you are in search of some quiet place to ponder, then Jampore beach would be my suggestion. At the southern tip of the town, Jampore beach is one of the safest and less frequented options for you to explore. The blue water, a far away boat, the serenity and a brilliant sunset, Jampore beach is a dreamer?s paradise. Nani Daman?s lighthouse is a lovely attraction, as it stands witness to centuries of sea journey taken up by vessels from all round the world.

Activities & things to do
While enjoying the calmness of the beaches, don?t forget to take some trekking expedition to ?Fort Moti Daman ?Fort Nani Daman ?Light House (in Moti Daman Fort) ?Bom Jesus Church and Our Lady of Rosary Chapel (inside fort, Moti Daman fort) ?Our lady of Sea Church (inside Nani Daman fort). And if you have some time check these out as well: Hathi Park and Bridge Side Garden. Mirasol Water park is a good recreational facility with boating and water sport options. There are rickshaws and also cars available for a day. A rickshaw would cost you around 500-600 bucks for a whole day.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
Daman can be reached by rail, road or air. 200km from Mumbai and 380Km from Pune, via Vapi it?s a lovely drive because of the well-maintained highways. And if you are a part of a gang and do have adventure in your blood, time to vroom your bikes and hit the road. However if you want to play safe, catch a train and get down at Vapi. There are plenty of auto-rickshaws to ferry you around! If you are travelling by car or bike, start off at around 4 in the morning, and you will reach Daman by 11 (from Pune). Avoid summer!
