Excellent & Neat Union Territory
Overview of the destination
We went with our 2 year old daughter to Daman with my friend and his wife, on 24 to 26 Dec-2006. We reached in 3 hours from Mumbai. We went to Mirasol Resort after checking in at a budget hotel. It's in middle of lake and have open restaurant. We did boating which was pleasant and were experiencing fresh air. My daughter was enjoying the ducks in the lake. Daman is divided into 2 parts, Nani Daman and Mota Daman where we found very neat and clean beaches, fort and church.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping
We found the food in Daman very tasty in whichever restaurants we tried. As it was Christmas time so all the restaurants were decorated. We targeted to spent time for leisure and therefore did not try any shopping. We travelled from Nani Daman to Mota Daman by boat. It was 10-12 minutes ride across the shore, the sight was real good. You can see the broken bridge between Nani and Mota Daman from the boat which gives real rural looks to the entire place. There is a very nice fort at the entrance of Mota Daman from where the view of the sea and the broken bridge gives very artistic view to the entire place.

Activities & things to do
At Nani Daman you can enjoy boating at a Resort at nominal price. Enjoy hard drinks and beer with your friends which is available in ample and at very low price. Infact as soon as our car entered in Daman & Diu union territory the wine shops were visible.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
Reaching to Daman from Mumbai is very simple, just drive straight on Mumbai-Ahmedabad road and take left before Vapi flyover and you will touch Daman after 20 mins. It is advisable to take car while going to Daman. You can go for drive on the road parellel to the several beaches at Nani Daman. Check the weather news of high tides before going on any beach during your visit to Daman, we were more cautious about the weather as we were traveling to Daman during Tsunami's 2nd anniversary. Overall Daman is nice place to have a 2-3 days outing. During Christmas time also there were enough rooms available at reasonable prices.
