HOW TO REACH VASHNO DEVI
Overview of the destination
There are few ways to reach Vashno Devi from various part of the country. But at last, whosoever is visiting VashnoDevi, have to reach Jammu. Devotee can take flights, Railways and buses according their convenience. As you reach Jammu, you should take care of many things otherwise you may be ripped off by touts (Mushroomed in Jammu, Katra and VeshnoDevi. Especially people running their any kind of business in Jammu, Katra and VeshnoDevi) Prior planning to leave for Vashno Devi. 1. Book your both side ticket 2. If possible, book your room at Veshno Devi (online) 3. You can take Helicopter from Katra to Sanchikhat (Booking needs to be done in advance) Steps from Jammu: 1. You can take taxy or buses are available just outside the station. (Taxy may cost 600-800INR and Bus fare is around 30-80INR). Pool cabs are also available outside the station. They may charge 100-200INR/person. 2. After around 1.5-2hr you would reach Katra where from you would start the main journey to Ma VashnoDevi Bhawan. 3. As you get down from cab or bus, you would face number of agents (Dalal) for Hotel booking. (Suggestion: Avoid them, as they may get you a cheap room but no guarantee for services and other amenities in hotel). And if you complaint to manager, they may simply ask you to call the same agent but you would not find him. 4. Better, you seed hotel on you own. Hotel charge may vary from hotel to hotel or guest house to guest house. 5. You have to start your journey for Maa Vashno Devi Bhawan from Banganga. (Auto are available for Banganga but do ask the fare before you board onto) 6. You can buy chunni, patka, Danda, Holy coins etc from local market and on way to Maa Vashno Devi Bhawan. (Suggestion: Do bargain with them as chunni and patka cost around 2-5Rs and coin costs around 5-10RS). Local shopkeepers would ask you to pay around 50-100INR for these items. (Kindly cross check at 2-3 shops) 7. You can take ponny, pithu to cover you jouney for Maa Vashno Devi Bhawan. (Ponies, pithu rates are displayed at various places. Kindly take slip from the pre-paid pony window. Pony rates start from 190 to 385 depends on weight of person and distance). Do notice registered pithu and pony oweners are in uniform. (There some touts too who can rip you off) Note: All the Jammu people running any kind of business try to rip you off. So better to be on safer side from all those CHOR KIND OF PEOPLE.
