Bhandardara - a lesser known hill station of Maharashtra
Overview of the destination We went in May on a full moon weekend. Summer presented a different view of Arthur lake and mountains. MTDC resort is bang on the lake and is the ideal resort if you want to unwind and love peace. It would be wonderful after rains and we will go again.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping You can buy only vegetables. Must see the sunset from Konkan Kada area over the cliffs of Sahyadris. For trekkers the trek to Ratangad or Kalsubai is very easy. Kalsubai is the highest peak of Maharashtra at 1646m.
Activities & things to do We got a bonus of local tribal dance by villagers in the evening at the lawns of MTDC resort. You would love to trek around and laze in a lake facing room.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. Bhandardara is 185km from Mumbai, 45 km from Igatpuri, and 200km from Pune by road via Sangamner off Nasik road. Dont take the road to Amruteshwar temple as it is very bad for couple of kms. Take the boat or bus from Bhandardara.
