| BIKY Delhi | 9th December 2006 | | beautiful and descent place and the peoples are really good | Overview of the destination yeah according to me i love manipur and the people over there. They are like japanese in there culture but they are hindus. People make rumours of this place to be a dangerous ones but is like heaven on the earth. Even indian primeminister Pt Jawaharalal Nehru said that manipur is the switzerland of INDIA.Food, sight-seeing and shopping The food is fantastic. They love boiled food and they like fish curry a lot. My favourite restaurant is Airlines restaurant and Tasty Taste restaurant in the heart of the city. The local wine is awesome. Don't miss Gambhir singh shopping center, where you will find foreign goods. Also, find the world's first polo ground here; polo was originally introduced to the whole world by this tiny state. Activities & things to do Go to Loktak lake, the biggest fresh water lake in north-east india. You can go for trekking to dzuko valley where you can find the Siroy lily a rare lily found only in this place. Check out the state museum in the heart of the city; don't miss the keibul lamjao national park where you can find the rarest deer name'sangai' also known by its scientific name : cervus eldi eldi. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. Get to guwahati(assam) by train and take a night bus to Manipur. Or fly by indian airline's or jet airways directly to manipur. The city is 20 minutes by taxi from the airport. | |
