Shillong is the capital of the state is very well developed and could be compared to any city in the country.Food, sight-seeing and shopping Locals of the place eat very bland food but good restaurants offering north indian, south indian and of course chinese are numerous in number, specially in shillong. Shillong points must to visit wouild be the Umiam Lake or BaraPani Lake, Maphlang-- where you would be amazed to see the variety of Orchids, Elephant falls, Don Bosco Museum, Shillong Peak-- Breathtaking view of the city, and many more. The city is filled with various falls and points. Shopping could be done at Police Bazaar for various handicrafts by the tribal people at innumerable emporiums there. Activities & things to do From Shillong you could Visit Cherrapunji-- Place with highest rainfall, Mawsynram. You can also see bangladesh border from Cherrapunji. Cherrapunji is very famous for its Honey. Dawki, Hot Spring are other excursions from Shillong Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. Nearest Airport and Railway Station Is Guwahati. Shillong is very well connected by road to Guwahati. The road is well maintained and takes around 3to 4 hours. Best time tovisit would be during summers. Don't forget to take warm clothes and umbrellas. | |
