| Anand Chennai | 24th November 2007 | | A Paradise in Rajasthan. | Overview of the destination My wife and me decided to visit Rajasthan for a small holiday just after Diwali this year. I have been there before but wanted to see the place after almost 10 years.Food, sight-seeing and shopping We covered Jaipur landing there first. Jaipur disappointed in the fact that the fort was under repairs and most of the places was covered with scaffoldings. The city palace was tolerable but the approach was filled with uncleaned garbage and human wastes. Our trip to other places was memorable-Jodhpur, Udaipur, Mount Abu and Jalsemer but what stood out was the place called Bishnoi Village Camp and Resort. Activities & things to do Of all the places in Rajasthan, I strongly recommend a small resort just 20 kms away from Jodhpur(on the route to Udaipur) near Guda Village. The place became famous because of Salman Khan and the black buck issue. The place I am referring to is BISHNOI CAMP AND RESORT.
Run by two agriculturists this small resort with six cottages designed in typical Rajasthani village style offers you comforts in a simple form. The food is only vegetarian, but is refreshingly fresh and hot. The place is memorable because of the warmth and above all the love and affection the two brothers shower on you. Athithidevobhava is to be learnt from them. If you want to lay back, enjoy good hospitality amongst eating good Rajasthani food and where you can get to see black bucks walking, peacocks eating out of your hand some rare foxes and wolves this place is a must for all.
Enjoy their hospitality, relax in the cool breeze outside your hut(cottage) with piping hot tea/chilled beer and forget your worries for a night or two and take your trip forward in a more relaxed frame of mind. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. Take the road to Udaipur and at the 20km junction ask for Guda Village and tank. It is 2 kms off the highway from there. The resort have put up convenient boards and keep an eye for them. | |
