Badrinath at an altitude of 10248 feet is considered the holiest place of the four main shrines of Uttaranchal. The town situated on the left bank of river Alaknanda is equidistant from the twin mountains of Nara (man) and Narayan (god).
It lies on the banks of the river Alaknanda and is devoted to Lord Vishnu. Badrinath is surrounded by snow capped peaks and it is just a short distance from Tibetan border.Food, sight-seeing and shopping
The present temple was built about two centuries ago by the kings of Garhwal. The principal idol in the temple is of black stone and represents Lord Vishnu seated in meditative pose and flanked by Nar-Narayan. Badrinath is also known as Visha Badri and is one of the Panch Badris. Activities & things to do
It is said that ?there are many sacred spots of pilgrimage in the heavens, earth and nether world, but there has been none equal to Badri, nor shall there be" Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
Can be reached by bus. Here you can get all kind of restaurants including south Indian, North Indian or even chinese. | |
