"tour at chamoli"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Jul 11, 2008
One of the most fantabolus natural beauty spot in northern india, a place one can visit several times for her people and her natural beauty.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: regarding sight-seeing one must know the system to taste the beauty otherwise one may feel bore. A group of ten person is the ideal group to save on siteseeing and boarding. There is not a large scope of marketing except some souvenior type items.

Activities & things to do: I can`t forget the open air gas lighted dinner with vodka and dry mutton on 21st day of sep`2007. I gaurantee no seven star hotels can afford the luxury and hospitality I received there from my unknown friends of chamoli village.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: I reach there by train via kathgodam station but there are so many routs , and can be selected according to the required tour programme.

"A Memorable Trip to Himachal"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Mar 30, 2007
Place is absolutely beautiful, something beyond your imagination. Absolutely breathtaking and wonderful.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Foods, restaurant etc is local and I believe that when you are so close to natural beauty these things do not matter much. You would love to spend more time visiting the temples and churches. Manali, Shimla (market), Kullu ( don't forget to see the shawl factory) are places you would love to see. Shopping for shawls, winter clothings is really cheap and good

Activities & things to do: We were just there for site visits... just carry some woolen clothes along if going in winter.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: My family went along with Kesari Travels - really good and trust worthy people.

"Heaven on Earth"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Mar 29, 2007
For any human of any age a heavenly destination on the foothills of the Himalayas. The snow peaks are just a few yards away. In a degree of fresh pure air, staying in tents without heaters is an experience by itself. That is what SANGLA Valley is all about. A seven hour road journey from Shimla through and through the mountains into the mouth of the breathtaking valley is an exotic experience of lifetime.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Highlight is the simplicity of the locals and their warm welcome. This place is for sheer unwinding from our stressful routine. Once we are there we can only carry home the beauty of this place in our heart and cherish it forever. The locals go out of the way to make your stay a comfort, arranging even bonfires for the chilled evenings. To cut things short as said before, its heaven on earth.

Activities & things to do: There is nothing to shop for. The main attraction is trekking down the mountains towards the rivers flowing down from Himalayas. There is also a naturally formed ice shiv-ling for religious people to look forward. Food too is simple but would definitely advise to carry loads of water with us for drinking purpose.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Option one -Mumbai-Delhi/Shimla- By Road seven hours to Sangla.

Option two - Mumbai-Delhi/Manali - By road five hours to Sangla.

Warnings - Narrow roads, Drive carefully. Try and reach before dark.

"visit to Timber Trail"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Feb 17, 2007
An excellent location to visit. Gives real adventure and thrill especially when travelling in the cabin across the hill. Reaching the end is a real thrill and the facilities at the hill top hotel are really exciting. A good site for honeymooners.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: It is more of a sightseeing place with no good attractions for shopping. Catering is expensive.

Activities & things to do: Be well protected. Enjoy the hill surroundings.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Travel by road from Chandigarh to Timber Trail by road, own car, bus, Taxi. Come to Chandigarh by Bus, Train or Air.

"Renukaji : a unspoiled Heavenly Destination"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted May 31, 2006
Renukaji Is near Nahan in Himachal Pradesh. Its a sacred lake named after Mother of God Parshuram, Renukaji.
The lake is quite calm and its a Wildlife area. Around lake leving the path is all wildlife.
In lake there are thousands of fishes to which the traveler can feed small pieces of flour. Also there are big torturoises in lake, a traveller can see and enjoy.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: I love sight-seeing where there is tranquality, peace and no commercialization. Shopping for local things that are hard to get in a developed city.

Activities & things to do: Activities are destination specific. Sometimes a quiet walk can be an activitiy, Sometimes exploring nearby places can be an activity and sometimes having local cusine at basic restaurant is activity to me.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Refer Air, rail and road guides and use net for availability; ask locals when there. Avoid unknown agents.
