Almost all the roads in Gujarat, be the highways or smaller roads through remote villages are very well laid, well-maintained and except close to big cities and fairly clutter-free. We loved the road journey that took us from Bhuj to Mandvi and on to Junagadh, Sasan Gir, Somnath, Diu, Nal Sarovar, Patdi and finally to Ahmedabad. More » « Hide

When we arrived at the hotel in the afternoon after leaving Patdi in LRK early in the morning and visiting Modera and Patan on our way we were very tired and though our rooms were pre-booked, the front office took some time to allot the room. As my wife went to take a bath she found that the waste bin in the bathroom was not cleaned (some used sanitary napkins were lying in it). This was cleaned as soon as we reported it but we had to place several calls for drinking water, for replacing a non-functioning electric lamp and to know when is dinner. Not expected of the type of hotel it was advertised to be. The location is in a residential neighbourhood and just beside a big private hospital but shopping malls and markets are close by. Dinner and breakfast was satisfactory though not many items were not on offer. The room was comfortable but the only window opened towards the backside of the hospital nearby where workmen were busy doing things and we could not get any view. More » « Hide

Teerth Guest House near Pathardi Fata, off the Mumbai-Agra Highway is a small but very comfortable B & B run by the husband-wife team of Jagdish and Hemangi ably assisted by a couple of efficient helpers of whom Chaya needs special mention. The rooms, named after rivers, are well-furnished, cosy and with all possible requirements including a LED TV with dish connection and coffee/tea makers. Bed and bath linen are changed daily with toiletries replenished. As the hotel was under renovation they offered us free 5-course dinner together with the sumptuous breakfast of juice, eggs to order, home baked bread with butter and jam, Indian snacks and tea/coffee. The food prepared by the lady of the house according to our taste was excellent and offered a good range. All sightseeing was arranged by them at a more or less reasonable cost and sound advice was provided for spending the spare time. If we ever go back to Nashik we are definitely going to stay with them. More » « Hide

During the pre-monsoon the forests of Chapramari and Gorumara, not to speak of Jaldapara turn into a lush green haven. The forests are teeming with bisons, rhinos, elephants wild boars and a variety of deers. Barking deer is quite common. The forests are a bird watchers'heaven. In the night elephant herds come visiting the Murti river from the northern bank while you sit safely on the other side at the Murti environment observation centre. More » « Hide
