We reached Tawang late in the evening after a treacherous drive from Bomdila through the snow laden SeLa Pass. It was freezing when we got there. As usual there was a power cut , fortunately this hotel is connected to an emergency line so we were not affected. The room was reasonable sized and well furnished. The attached bath was large. The blankets provided were adequate and most of all the heater worked continuously. The staff was miniscule since it was off season, but they looked after us well. They managed a limited range of food too. More » « Hide

As soon as you drive in to Bomdila, this hotel appears perched by the side of the local taxi stand and the junction of the road leading to the market. We were told that this the best hotel in Bomdila so we decided to stay there. The hotel is quite comfortable, though the rooms are quite tiny.Luckily we stayed in the higher tariff room, the cheper rooms are so cramped you can hardly move about!! It was drizzling when we arrived and the temperature was minus3!! There was a power cut, but this hotel has a back up generator which also powers the room heaters so we managed to sleep in pleasant warmth. The beds were comfortable. The place was packed since the SeLa Pass was blocked owing to heavy snowfall and tourists going to Tawang were stranded in Bomdila. Owing to this the staff were at their wits trying to take care of all the guests. The restaurant in particular was unable to cope with this pressure. So we just had to make do with whatever they could dish out.(Nothing great!!) More » « Hide

It is very spacious , particularly the lobby and reception area. But it is presently in bad shape and urgently needs refurbishment. The rooms are well designed too. However the linen and carpets are well-worn and not worthy of a hotel of this standard. The staff is friendly and co-operative. The food is good too. We tried out some Naga dishes which turned out to be quite delicious. The hotel has a sprawling garden in front, but this too needs attention. More » « Hide

We were to stay at Hotel Blue Pine but did not like its location in the middle of the bustling bazar area so drove to the other end of town and found 'Arun Subansiri' to be just right. It has a very spacious lobby and the rooms are large, wood-panelled and well furnished. The tariff is nominal for this type of hotel. The room has a fantastic view of the hillock on which the Tibetan Gompa and the State Museum is situated. The only shortcoming was the lack of an elevator!! Our room was on the 3rd floor, so we had quite a bit of exercise during our stay there. The food in their restaurant was ordinary, so we opted to eat out most of the time. More » « Hide

Although you stay in tents, the attached toilets with running hot water makes the stay quite comfortable. The surroundings make you feel one with nature, what with all the variety of birds chirping all around. The bonfire in the middle of the camp each evening is where you get to share your bird sightings with other guests. The common kitchen cum dining hall provides excellent food served with great warmth by the friendly staff. The camp organised a river rafting trip on the Jia Bhorelli river as well as a boat ride acroos the river to visit the Nameri National Park. The guides and Boat/raftmen were knowledgable and very helpful too. More » « Hide
