The experience is that of being welcomed in the lap of nature. The entrance path is made of rocks and it swirls away into the hotel amidst green trees and plants all around. The air is o so pure and the climate is exxxtremely pleasant. We had been there in early December. There are canals flowing all across and there are bridges running over each of them which were a beautiful sight. There are birds chirping on the trees and there are classy direction boards made of wood informing occupants about location of each facility inside. The rooms are basically wooden cottages which are equipped with bath tubs. The rooms are spacious however the cleanliness aspect needs considerable improvement. The A/Cs are in pathetic condition and are as good as non-existent. The reception and restaurant are located near the lake and virtually every structure inside is made from wood. It is a place apart within Kumarakom and I would strongly recommend at least one visit to this hotel. The rate is on the higher side for both accomodation and food, which is quite surprising given the fact that it is owned by KTDC. Most of the tourists to the hotel were couples with quite a few of them being honeymoon couples. The reason could be the time of the year being marriage season. However, I would like to know about the kind of tourists visiting the hotel during other time periods of the year.
