I booked it expecting to soak in the heritage charm and I must admit that I was not disappointed.... .. I booked it expecting to soak in the heritage charm and I must admit that I was not disappointed. The old fashioned architecture, huge rooms with appropriate bathrooms, the ornate hall with spectacular chandelliers and the beautiful gardens all added to its charm. As it was a government run hotel I did not expect much in terms of service and it was actually like that. Although the staff were courteous the service was not at all prompt. Our room was on one side of the hotel and we had to pass through a long and winding passage which was dimly lit covered with a torn and dusty carrpet which indicated the quality of maintenance of the property. A property with such historical value situated in such a nice location could have been and should have been kept in much better condition. More » « Hide

My overall experience of this hotel was average. Although the service was prompt and courteous... .. My overall experience of this hotel was average. Although the service was prompt and courteous and the front office was efficient and helpful, the rooms were cramped and tiny. Especially the rooms on the back side of the hotel had only partial view of a small strech of the sea. The bathrooms were very small and all the fittings did not work properly. However the front office tried to solve all the problems promptly. They even let us interchange our backside room wjth a front side one at the earliest opportunity. The food was good and tasty although the menu lacked variety. The hotel had a small swimming pool and a indoor games room although both of these lacked proper maintenance. More » « Hide
