The modern city has wide roads, controlled traffic , modern malls, offices and Vidhan Sabha Building and Secretariet. The historic city, known as pink city has nine gates, all structures are painted with pink colour. Shops have name boards painted with black letters in white background and are numbered. While on a trip to Jaipur,Rajasthan, A day\'s outing to Pushkar and Ajmer is worth adding.Ajmer is a small town visited by pilgrims of all religion for The Dargah Sharif.The area near Dargah has very narrow lanes and is heavily crowded.One has to be careful of beggars and touts. If you are on a trip to Jaipur, Rajasthan. You can try a day\'s excursion to Pushkar and Ajmer. It is about 150 kms from Jaipur and you can travel by taxi as the most convenient mode of transport. Lord Brhma\'s temple being the only one in India , is worth visiting. Pushkar Lake is also good, but like all religious places, it is dirty. The local market is just like a normal town mkt. More » |
