The purpose was both to relax and to explore the place and so we went for 6 days (5 nights) out of which we stayed at Devendra Garh for 3 days - 2 nights. It was a great experience to stay at Devendra Garh and the hospitality was incomparable more like a home away from home. The resort was run by a family who, a few years ago decided to let out a part of their own house. The family stays in a section of the same resort and is hands-on in managing the resort really well. The resort was located very close to the Fateh Sagar lake with a beautiful view from some of the rooms as well as the huge lawn in front of the building. The room we stayed in was very spacious and had a lovely view of the lawn and the lake beyond. What was wonderful was to see the sun rise from the room, it was extremely tranquil. What was the icing on the cake was the excellent personalized service offered by the resort from allowing us a late check-out (right up-to 5:30 pm!), the lovely balloons for our son, the sumptuous desserts which accompanied the meals and which were never charged for and the biscuits which accompanied the tea which were again not charged for, these all made one feel at home. The resort had a play room for kids, a large pool, though we didn't use it and vintage cars that one could take for a ride it was for a charge. The location of the resort was good since it is right in front of the Fateh Sagar lake, however, it is a little secluded and is some distance away albeit not much by metro standards, from the Lake Pichola wherein are situated most of the attractions of the city. However, I would definitely recommend this resort highly for a vacation and for sure we would be staying here the next time we travel to Udaipur. More » « Hide

The guest house itself is at around a nice 15-20 minutes walk from the Kandy lake through a nice path along the road that curves down from a small hill, on which it is located. The guest house is nice and clean in appearance and has a homely touch. The owner Mr. Manjula and his wife personally look after the property and also take a great interest in interacting with guests. A couple of incidents especially left me with pleasant memories - the first one when post the Perahera festival at around 11 am, when means of transport were not immediately available, Mr. Manjula first guided me to the way back and then spoke to the auto that I was taking back to the hotel to provide the directions; and another when he and his wife dropped me back to the train station since they were going to the city center themselves. The rooms are nice and clean and give a homely appearance with Wi-Fi and hot water facility in the bathrooms. The beds are only made on request the second day. The restaurant is nice and has a lovely view of the hill. The food is good and the service is excellent. Overall, a wonderful place to stay in and one that I would highly recommend. More » « Hide

McLeodganj has a lot to offer tourists - from those traveling for religious/ spiritual purposes to those traveling in search of adventure to those wanting to just rest and relax in the wonderful cafes along the road to the Namgyal Monastery, home to the Dalai Lama. This was my 6th visit to McLeodganj over the last 12 years or so and 5th time I stayed at the Club House. Unlike earlier, this time my visit was also focused on adventure (apart from relaxation) - a trek to Triund. It's a nice guest house located close to the main market, yet far away not to be disturbed by the noise of traffic. It has around 10 rooms of varying categories, however, considering the price at which these are offered, they are really a steal especially during monsoons wherein there is a 35% discount off the room rate. There is also good space for parking your vehicle, should you choose to drive to McLeodganj. The rooms are nice and spacious - with the suites really big with a dining section (as a part of the main room) and a cloak room. The food is fine with a variety of dishes; however, one ends up eating rarely there since there are many wonderful cafes in the market to visit especially for sumptuous breakfast. The staff is courteous and efficient. They also go out of the way to help one out. When we came back exhausted from our trek, we wanted a room for day-use till we caught our bus in the evening. Since there were no rooms available at The Club House, one of the staff members - Jeet helped out with booking at another hotel. In terms of activities, there is not much to do in the guest house. There is a facility for table tennis and billiards though. Overall, a good guest house which is definitely value for money. But do spend most of your time outdoors - there is just too much to see and do in McLeodganj. More » « Hide

It has one of the most beautiful beaches along the coast of South Africa. The serenity of the place is further highlighted by the greenery that one can see all around oneself. It is a good place to make a base to see nearby Knysna lagoon and Outdshorn, famous for its Ostrich farms. There are a lot of hotels overlooking the sea that one can choose to stay in. It is very close to the George airport. More » « Hide

The Hotel is located overlooking the beach and one only needs to climb down some steps to reach the beach. The beach itself is very serene and calm, and one can just spend hours sitting there. The Hotel has a lovely garden, swimming pool and nice benches overlooking the beach. The food is very good and the breakfast is very elaborate. The staff is also very courteous and friendly. The rooms are spacious and one can always request for a room facing the beach. Other tourist places such as Outdshorn and Kynsna can be visited by making the hotel a base. More » « Hide
