Trip to Malpe was planned spontaneously for me at least. I was in Port Blair when my friend called me and asked me if I'll join her for this trip to Malpe and adjoining beaches. I came back from Port Blair on Tuesday and left for Udupi, which is 6 kms from Malpe, on Friday evening. To be very honest I was expecting a typical beach holiday of swimming in the beach all day, lazing around, however Malpe, Kapu and St. Mary's have so much more to offer. This is neither swimming nor a strolling beach, we swam and strolled anyways, It's a beach to be gazed and wondered at; and it's the only one of its kind in India, to just gaze at the majestic ocean and the sunset is mesmerizing. This beach is quite different. It's a long, broad, town beach, undeveloped but likely to grow. The light House at Kapu beach offers breathtaking view of the majestic ocean and graciously swaying palm trees. The endless stretch of golden sand, , the clear blue sky and the gurgle of the sea all set the perfect mood for an unforgettable holiday here. More » |

I was looking for a getaway with my friends and couldn't think of a destination, my friend suggested Mcleodganj. I had been there once before and just the reminder of good times helped me decide. So Mcleodganj it was. We stayed in a little hotel called Hotel Green in quite Mcleod Ganj. Here the food is excellent, the atmosphere is relaxed and the locals are friendly, which truthfully, is probably because the locals are all Tibetan. More » |

The city popular mostly among domestic tourists, has more to offer than just Amitabh Bacchan and a few prime ministers of India. Three hours drive from Varanasi, which is a major tourist destination both for domestic and international tourist, this city has recently been declared a metropolitan because of its population. Anciently known as Prayag, there are still people who call Allahabad as 'Prayag Raj' which means supreme among all the other pilgrimages is Prayag. It is said that when there was destruction on the earth, it was only this city which stood still amongst all the destruction, hence this is believed that Allahabad is situated in between the glory of five holy beings, the Akshay Vat, which is the tree that withstood the destruction of the earth, the Ganga, the Yamuna and the mythical river of Saraswati and Saint Bharadwaj's Ashram. Allahabad has a very rich history, some of the creams of India have been from Allahabad. It was considered to be the hub of culture and education and no local can forget that it was called 'The Oxford of the East'. Kumbh Mela is one of the major attractions of Allahabad. For once it attracts lot of international tourists as well. The Sadhus in their full form can be found in this mela. It's suppose to happen once every twelve years, and 'Ardh kumbh' which is the smaller version of Kumbh happens once every six years. Allahabad being the land of melas, also has 'Maagh mela'. Magh according to hindu calender is the 11th month and starts from mid january to mid february. More » |
