In our latest trip to Allahabad we decided to try a new hotel, and the choice fell on Harsh Ananda, which was described as a heritage hotel. The hotel has indeed been upgraded from an old bangalow by adding a complete new wing. We found the hotel to be very clean and comfortable. The rooms were equipped with all amenities and the service was courteous and personalized. Its greatest advantage is the location, as it is located in the Civil Lines area, but is still protected from the din and noise of the main road. The hotel, however, does not have a restaurant, and you get your meals, including breakfast in the room itself. The food offered is quite tasty and the service is prompt. On the whole, a very satisfying stay. More » « Hide

Seeking a quiet place, away from the chaos and noise of Delhi/Gurgaon, we zeroed in on this place. It turned out to be a good choice; the place was easy to reach, being within an hour's drive from Gurgaon, with frequent signs giving directions.Once we reached there we were surprised to find an island of tranquillity so close to the hustle and bustle of Delhi/NCR. We were a family group and were provided 3 adjacent rooms. The rooms were very comfortable and well equipped. The hotel has several swimming pools and a good dining hall, with a wide menu. The only thing lacking was activities for young kids. Also, the pool table in the club was in a state of disrepair. On the whole, a good place for a week-end, but not if you have young kids with you. Selecting a hotel for a holiday often presents a dilemma;you want a restful and quiet place, and yet you do not wish to be cut off from the main attractions of the destination.Country Inn and Suites satisfied this parameter admirably.Located in the very heart of the city,it still retains a quiet ambiance. Thoughtful and efficient, yet unobtrusive, service, combined with a wide variety of cuisine on offer made for a perfect getaway for me and my wife. The rooms are provided with all ameneties that you desire, and the front office staff is courteous and helpful. Having seen enough of luxury destinations and star hotels,we wanted to visit a place which could take us to a proximity to gods, even if it was not to offer us luxuries usually associated with holidays. We chose Deoghar,in Jharkhand,India, wnich is also known as Baidya nath Dham or Baba Dham, meaning the abode of Lord Shiva. It is one of the 12 Jyotir lingas, and Lord Shiva is worshipped here as a Divine Healer. Allahabad, also known in India as Prayag Raj, is one of the most sacred cities in India, situated as it is at the site of the confluence the holy rivers Ganga(Ganges) and Yamuna. From times immemorial, people have visited it for seeking spiritual solace. It has also been one of the leading centres of higher education in the country, and a seat of a High Court. In recent times, the city has outgrown its traditional confines and has become a hub of commercial activity, with modern shopping centres, posh residential colonies, and well-laid-out roads. It is a great example of the synthesis of the old and new!
