Poovar island resort is a beautiful place in near backwaters. We went there to spend a weekend. There is a 20 min boat journey to reach the resort from the land. The ride itself is refreshing. The first thing you notice when you land in the resort is the beautiful garden and the warm welcome given by the hostel staff. The room was big and tasefully furnished in kerala style. There are plenty of things you can do in the resort. There is a swimming pool, badminton court etc..The most attractive thing in the resort apart from these is the ayurveda cottages and floatels. You can book the ayurveda cottages if you are planning to spend time rejuvanating in ayurveda spa. The floatels are cottages in water. In addition to these you can just stroll in the garden which is pretty much refreshing and also go fo a boat ride. The greenery surronding the resort is simply beautiful.
The description of resort will be incomplete without the mention of food there. Frankly the buffet menus were good and value for money. The menu had south indian, north indian and continental cusines. All in all this is a beautiful place for a weekend get away with your spouse, family or a family get together
