Alleppy is the rice bowl of Kerala. There are vast expanse of green paddy fields. Interestingly, many of these paddy fields are below the sea level. They construct bunds/small dams to prevent sea water from entering their fields.
And most importantly, Alleppt lives up to its name of \'Venice of the Eást\' with an amazing criscross of backwaters cannals. Villages here are less connected by road and more by water. Public transport in the interiors are through water trams. It was a pleasant sight to see villagers going to fetch groceries on boats.
The scenic beauty of this place makes it a heady concoction for shutterbugs.
Typical to most places of Kerala, the place is decently clean. Once can find good hotels, resorts but to feel like Venice, it is recommended to stay on the HouseBoat. It is fantastic and memorable experience on the lap of nature.
