HIGH LAND RESORTS – BLUEBAY BEACH RESORT
As the name suggest it’s a beach resort, 50 odd kms from Chennai central.
It’s in mahabalipuram though the main mahabalipuram town is still 16 kms away from this resort, or for that matter, all the resorts that are located in this area.
Basically the resorts are a strip of properties and every strip is a resort with a private beach gate.
So all the names that you see in Holidayiq are all next to one another, in the main ECR.
We were a family of 2 and we took the train from Bangalore to be in Chennai early morning where we had a cab waiting for us to take us to the property.
We reached the resort at 6am in the morning and got our cottage alright but there was nobody to give us even drinking water, keep aside tea or ask for breakfast till about 9am.
Come to think of it that we were the only occupant to have come in on the Saturday morning and all the other guests started pouring in from the evening onwards, who were mostly from local Chennai.
Since we Indians have that additional qualification of being tolerate we didn’t make a fuss and took the family and kids to the pool which is a nice one…and spend time in the warm pool water!
We asked for breakfast and we were told there is no south Indian breakfast in a hardcore south Indian location….beat that!!
So we had to be happy with the aloo ka paratha where hardly any aloo was visible.
The resort doesn’t even have any Restaurant as it boasts in its website and elsewhere (multi cuisine restaurant and so forth)
We took off the first day to mahabalipuram town and there are quite a few good place and luckily they are all in the same locality so you don’t have to drive much to visit them…all of them relate to the ancient pandava’s time.
We had our lunch in the town itself knowing the capability of the resort on the type of food we might get.
The beach is also a very clean and neat stretch and one can think of having a good time there.
When we reached our cottage post lunch, we found that none of the rooms have been cleaned, no bath towels replaced and again no water refilled….when we called them they said that we have to call them for this service to get this job done...which I find very ridiculous as no resort has this policy.
Going by all this we were quite clear that we are not going to stay there the second day and told the reception accordingly.
But to our surprise they billed us for the second day also when we checked out the next day after 24 hrs…their justification was that since we committed 2 days they will bill us for 2 days.
We didn’t want to make a scene with ladies and kids around and paid them promising ourselves never ever to visit them.
So in short…nothing much to talk about the resort but for the beach and the pool but then again, one needs to ask a question that do we need to pay 4000/- per cottage(2000 per room) to enjoy the pool and beach ???
