Being a foodie, we just loved this city. Street food is so amazingly fresh. So fresh that one can walk down the street hoping to buy some on the way back only to find the stall closed as he has sold out!! Cheapie chinese was a delight. Huge quantites , and for the price of Rs 20/ 2 people can eat to hearts content. More » « Hide

Bhutan is one SAARC country that only respects the Voters ID as a pass into their country, other than the passport ofcourse. So please don\'t be under the notion that taking your driving licence or any other authorized identification from the Government of India will hold. I paid dearly for this mistake which cost me mental stress of rescheduling the entire holiday. Hotels in Paro and Thimphu were very good. The 3 star category had excellent spacious rooms as well as clean bathrooms and fresh smelling linen. We stayed at Peaceful Resort Thimphu, and it was a good experience. Staff were polite and obliging. In Paro we stayed at the Tenzingling and Ugyen Phendeyling, where the experience was the same. At the Ugyen Phendeyling, one could have a clear view of the Tigers nest monastery. The ambience and surroundings were nice, but the rooms were not as good as the Tenzingling or Peaceful resort. Tenzingling has a view of the valley. Shopping for authentic bhutanese handicrafts are a tad expensive, and tho the shop keepers are open to bargaining, they don\'t really part with the goods at your price ! People are very pleasing and one can see that it is true that they are a happy content lot. The traditional bhutanese dish called the ema dachi is worth a try, We ate it at different restaurants, but I would say the one at the Peaceful resort was the best. We also ordered the local beer to down it, and a stir fry chilli beef which on the whole was a good experience. More » « Hide

GSV, as we discovered is just half hour from Mysore, and we are glad we opted to experiment staying there rather than in Mysore, while breaking journey enroute to Bangalore. It is so calm and beautiful. The falls are a stones throw away and, this time of the year a delight to see. GSV was a welcoming break enroute from Ooty to Bangalore. It is so calm and beautiful. The waterfalls are a stones throw away and a delight to see this time of the year. The pool at the resort is refreshing. The food is personally handled by the hosts, and one could see the personal touch to make sure everyone is kept happy. We had 2 children with us, and special exciting menu was prepared for them. They loved the sight of the duck, geese, dogs pigeons, and what have you.The touch of nature was a refreshing change for them, espcially since we live in the city and in an apartment. I had no regrets spending the night at Georgia Sunshine Village instead of Mysore, and will definitely return for more of nature and relaxation. A Special Thanks to the Hosts, Leonard and Georgia, for giving us the atmosphere of a home away from home. More » « Hide
