Auli is a scenic snow clad hill ideal for skiing and vacation destination in Uttarkhand. It is accessible by road from Rishikesh through the narrow roads that takes 9-10 hours if there are no land slides. Another interesting aspect of the place is its excellent ski slopes that invites athletes and amateurs alike for skiing and ITBP has Skiing and Mountaineering Institute that train individuals in this lovely and thrilling sport. If you are not such a sport loving type, do not worry, the view of the Uttarkhand Himalayas will surely take your breath away. Some of the prominent peaks can be easily identified including India\'s highest Nanda Devi. Excellent conditions of snow during most part of year, ambient facilities to the visitors, hospitable locals and breathtaking vistas of the Himalayas makes Auli a destination you always dream of! We were a group of friends on a Diesel Nissan Micra on our way to Lamb of God concert!, had a night long trip from Hyderabad. We were terribly sleepy by the time we were near Bangalore. Luckily we were very near to Nandi hills and we thought why don\'t we just have a peek. Glad we did!! what a cloudy morning we had over there!! we just parked our car on the valley top, and went around mesmerized at the early morning glory and the cool pleasant air drifting all around us! The view from that hill top is absolutely awesome, we were over there for couple of hours and we didn\'t even realize it!!! We had a good breakfast of bread and omlette and it was good! Overall we were so refreshed in the nature\'s lap and I am sure I will visit again probably with my girl next time!! ;) More » |
