We went to McLeodganj in August 2011. It was peak of Monsoon and hence off-season there. So, we... .. We went to McLeodganj in August 2011. It was peak of Monsoon and hence off-season there. So, we got decent rates for the suite at The Club House. Though it is run by HPTDC, but it is well maintained and the staff was very courteous and friendly. They were helpful in guiding us about the nearby places. This place has ample parking, which is a luxury in Mc Leodganj! The place is best to visit in non-monsoon months. We tried the trek to Triund (7km from McLeodganj). The uphill took some 4 hrs, but the rain played spoilsport. All we could see was clouds all along and rainwater splashing in eyes. It is a sleepy town. So breakfast joints will open at brunch time of 11am. Order karo aur bhool jayo. They take their own sweet time as everything is fresh. But everything was yum (can't say if it was the taste actually or the mice dancing in tummy!) Must Visit: 1. Dalai Lama Monastary 2. Norbulingka (Dharmashala) 3. Mc'Llo Restaurant 4. Tibet Kitchen 5. Hotel Atithi is located in Paltan Bazaar, opposite the Nepali Mandir. It is very easy to locate.... .. Hotel Atithi is located in Paltan Bazaar, opposite the Nepali Mandir. It is very easy to locate. The staff is very warm and friendly. I was on a business trip, and needed instructions to go around town. The front desk people were very corteous and arranged a taxi. Also instructed the driver and negotiated rates on my behalf. The breakfast offered is also good, with variations of Indian and Continental. Over breakfast, I noticed that most of the guests were business travellers. The hotel has Wi-Fi connectivity, and has a couple of ATMs nearby. We had booked the conference hall also, but the facilities were below expectation. Since we were a bunch of females, they guided us as to where we could do shopping, and which areas we should avoid because of security concerns. Overall, very hospitable stay. More » « Hide
