Abbi Falls Overview

Ranked 3 of 42 sightseeing in Coorg

Abbi Falls is located around 8 km away from the town of Madikeri, in the mountains of the Western Ghats. Nestled between a private coffee plantations and spice estates, this waterfall descends into the Cauvery River. Just opposite the fall, there is a hanging bridge, which can be accessed by tourists. Visitors can view the Kali Mata Temple as well as coffee and black pepper trees from the bridge.

The level of the fall rises during the monsoon season and diminishes during the dry season. For reaching the Abbi Falls, visitors can take a narrow road to the coffee estate. From there, a path through coffee and cardamom plantations leads to the waterfall. Best time to visit the waterfall is in early winter months, when fall is flooding with water brought by the monsoon.

Nothing in this world would be as refreshing as feeling the natural bliss along with the glimpse of

Sports shoes can keep you comforted so far in a place with creeky ups and downs, valleys and mountains. And if you enjoy having raw mangoes, coconut water and corn in a freeze atmosphere with your hands trembling and mouth watering at the same time ... Trust me this place is sure a paradise to you ..

Beautiful Falls amidst Dense Coffee Estates

Abbey Falls is one of the best waterfalls of Coorg which is located inside the capital town Madikeri. It is easily accessible from the town by rented private vehicles like cab or autorickshaw and entry to falls is free.We have to go through a small path with some stairs to reach the falls. The path is very safe despite its location amidst dense coffee and cardamom plantations.A hanging bridge is present in front of the falls to get the full view, but it is closed now. There is no facility to take a Bath in the cool water and it is very risky if tried. We visited Abbey Falls during monsoon season. Since the flow of water was very high at that time, the falls looked very beautiful.

Road trip+budget trip for college students

We have started our journey from Chennai. We had booked zoom car and totally we were 7 members. It took us 11-12 hours to reach aur destination Coorg. The main place in Coorg is Madikeri. So this place has awesome climate. We have sightseeing many places like fort, abbi falls, temples, etc. The night of Coorg is cold and we were staying in resort. The next day we went for forest trekking. We had also enjoyed river rafting. The same place also have elephant dance. The next day we left the place for Chennai and in between we also had a visit in vrindavan garden.Overall experience was excellent.

Visit once, visit again - Good hangout place

Visit once, visit again - Good hangout place. Coorg never fails to surprise. First with its jungles and homestays. Then with the falls. This is one of the most visited places in Coorg. It is quiet wide. Earlier the rope bridge used to be main place for clicking pictures with friends or selfie. But due to safety issues that has been clod ed now. Otherwise good place.

Poorly maintained falls

I was told that the Abbey Falls is a must see, and the throngs of crowd in the place, confirmed that. Although I reached a tad too early to enjoy the gush of waterfall that the rainy season offers, I was able to get nice pictures with my Dual G5 Micromax camera phone. The atmosphere was buzzing with high energy - I guess flowing water does that to you! There is a hanging bridge which is closed to the public now. It used to be one of the points from where you can watch the Abbey Falls. The path to the Abbey falls is quite long from the parking lot - on a hot day, it is quite difficult to go up and down the stairs. The place, however, is poorly maintained, and it's dirty. Plus, it's a little away from the other attractions. I would give it a miss if I had other things to see.

Visit early morning

This waterfall is worth a visit. This is one of the best waterfalls in Coorg and since it is in the main city it is usually crowded. My suggestion is you should go there early morning if you want to avoid the crowd. Please beware of the footwear as during rains you might encounter leeches on the way to the falls.

Nature at it best

Wonderful nature's gift towards its mankind. Lovely place to visit with family. Despite, a must visit place in Coorg, and many people travel to this place, the basic facilities like clean washroom etc is not available (quite usual in the state of Karnataka). But overall, travel to this place is satisfying.
