Temple right in the middle of a Lake

Sri Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu is a Lake Temple. Temple premise is right in the middle of the lake. And its serenely beautiful. The temple has a legend... Its a Crocodile that almost weighs 150 kgs. And is purely vegetarian. Does not even touch or trouble the fishes in the lake. It rarely comes out of its then inside the lake and very few lucky ones get to see it. And when it comes it only eats the Prasadam or Nivedyam that the Temple Pujari offers it. Also legends has it that the cave that starts here at this temple has a tunnel that opens up at Lord Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Trivandrum. That's a good 550+ km tunnel and connects Northern Tip of Kerala to the South end of it. But the tunnel is not open and has been closed and not used for ages. There is a dress code for the temple entry - Ladies should be in ethnic wear not necessarily a Saree. Men should enter after removing their shirts. They have annadanam (Prasadam food) for all during lunch time.Washrooms are there and decent enough and ample parking space and the temple is just about half a km away from the main highway road.

3000 year Old temple with a story

I went to Ananthapura lake temple today with my husband. We reached there around 11 AM.There are some restrictions on what you wear inside. Men need to go bare chest and women need to wear covered clothes like saree or suit.So wear appropriate clothes before going. Man can remove their Shirt and Baniyan while entering Main Mandir area. Also covering of head is not required in this temple. This temple is 3000 years old with a interesting story behind it. Temple has lake on his all sides. And lake has a crocodile named Babia. He is vegetarian crocodile who only eats Mandir Prasad. When one crocodile dies another one invisibly appears in the lake and this continues to be an unexplained phenomenon. You must read entire story behind Babia and share it with your kids and others while visiting this temple. Check link. Com/historyAlthough I was not able to see the crocodile but the story I heard created lot of interest while visiting this temple. We also went to the temple mess which offers Prasad of Dry Poha, seviyan and Tea for all.You can also see one cave with a gate which is locked from outside but it is said that it is connected to 1000 km far Trivandrum Temple.Place is very nice and peaceful.Few tips before going:1. Don't go there in late afternoon as you need to move bare foot, so it will be difficult.2. Wear Appropriate clothes.3. Must go to temple mess to have Prasad. And wash your utensils after eating.4. Must read the entire story behind temple and share it with kids and other people accompanying you.

Over 2000 years old Lake Te

Over 2000 years old Lake Temple is a Hindu temple built in the middle of a lake in the little village of Anantapur, in Kasaragod District of Kerala, South India. Ancient temple on a lake was the perfect meditations spot bringing so much peace. Strong bricked architectural style kept the temple cool proving how religious heads adopted sustainable building methods. We can adopt ancient Indian indigenous means in today's green living habits too. Kerala is famous for Eco Tourism. Thank you @gokerala #gokerala #HolidayIQ Ministry HolidayIQ for taking us to ancient religious sites to learn about eco tourism. Take your family here if you visit Kerala.

Review your devotion to each other at Ananthapura

The temple is said to be over 2000 years old dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It's a nice place to start the day praying to God and find peace. We as a couple reviewed our wedding vows and pledged to keep travelling more to enhance our togetherness. The temple priest explained everything so beautifully. The stones with which the temple is made is red and black... It is said to preserve temperatures of the temple naturally. This is a classic example of how our ancestors fought Climate change through eco friendly sustainable buildings. When ever you visit a religious place ensure you pay utmost respect and ask if photography is permitted and in which areas.

Ananthapuram padmanabhan temple at kasargod

Ananthapuram temple is the oldest temple and one of the ancient temple which has very long mythological story behind it. There is a crocodile who is protecting the whole temple and especially the cave from which padmanabhan God has crossed to reach trivandrum padmanabhan temple. Here in this temple the God is sitting and in trivandrum the God is lying in sleep. This temple is very clean and close to nature. And so pious and cool breezy, the best thing is the rules are still followed for every one, like mundu for ladies and bare chest for men's with mundu wearing for both compulsory.

An temple surrounded by water and a veg. Crocodile

This temple is a must visit in kasaraod distance, the northern most district to Kerala bordering karnataka. It's said that this temple is the moolasthana of the famous and richest Sri Padmnabhaswamy temple in trivandrum which is the southern most district and Capital of Kerala. Around 45 minutes drive from Kasaragod town the temple is situated in a serene quiet place which is filled with greenery during monsoon times. There is a cave in the side of the pond which the temple claims to be an passage to Sri Padmnabhaswamy templeThe most interesting fact which the temple claim is the presence of crocodile inside the pond.
