      Fantabulous waterfalls

This waterfall is located deep inside a restricted wild life sanctuary, to get here you need to reach kollur and then head towards kodachadri, enroute maybe only a couple of clicks past kollur, you will come across a metal bridge, the entry is on the right side just before the bridge. As the place is in restricted forest you need authorization to enter, there is a gate which allows you into the forest.Once through the gate, it's about 8 to 10 km inside. A bike would be ideal to take you to the falls however be warned that there is one particularly steep slope which is difficult for a bike to go and most people leave their bikes before this slope, but if you can make it past this one slope the rest of the way is manageable. Of course you can chose to trek the entire distance but be warned that it's all uphill until you reach a point from where it's about 1 km downhill to reach the falls.Be aware that there are predatory animals around and it's best to trek warily. However at the end of the trek, the falls are just too beautiful. The falls fall from almost 300 to 400 feet and there is a break in the falls almost in the last 50 feet. So this allows you to stand under the falls without hurting yourself. The pool at the bottom is carved into the rock in almost a perfect circle. The edge of this bowl like pool has a few feet of water, where you see the floor and walk around, but it ends abruptly at the edges of the bowl and it gets deep all of a sudden, you can't touch the bottom, it's very deep. The pool is about 50 feet or more in width and you can swim from one side to the other easily if you know swimming and then you reach directly under the fall. There is no food or water available, so you will need to carry your supplies. Only activity is to play around in the water. You will need a whole day to visit this place and come back.Personally we went by bike and were able to climb the steep slope on the bike, but we had a very reliable 2 stroke power house, called a Yamaha Rx135 to take us there, not all bikes will be able to make it. Plus the steep slope is on a curve if you slip on the way up, you may easily skid down and fall of the edge on the curve. So be very careful if you plan on going by bike i.e if forest officials allow you to take vehicles.Bottom line, this is more of an Adventure than a simple trek but worth every bit once you see the waterfalls.
