Pancha Booth Sthalangal (Agni or Fire)

This was 3rd destination of day one of our south India tour of 12 days by Taxi from Chennai to Trivandrum. We visited the temple in evening and also have a special Pooja in front of Lord Shiva. Arunachaleswar Temple is also called as Annamalaiyar. Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There are Pancha Booth Sthalangal in Tamilnadu and there are the temples that are the manifestation of the five elements - land, water, air, sky, and fire. Element of Arunachaleswar Temple, Thiruvannamalai is fire or Agni. A glorious architecture structure spread out on 10 hectares land, is one of the largest in India, reminds us of our glorious past. Must visit place for devotee of Lord Shiva.

Beautiful temple

Excellent temple and renovation is going on. We couldn't able to see much places like pond in the temple because of the renovation. Visiting the temple after sunset is nice one.

A place to be experienced

Divine architectural wonder, a place to be to experience the oneness with the Lord, this is the place every individual irrespective of religion wants to visit. Visiting this temple before and after the Girivalam is a worthy experience for the inner soul. Words fail because knowledge can be shared but not the experience. The temple is huge and every deity here has its own significance. Spend your time in this place and Do not miss the Pathala Lingam.

Big, crowded and powerful temple with very amazing architecture

The temple's front is very height, I saw that much big one first time. Temple located at the bottom of hill. Inside the temple, architecture is very amazing and also a very big temple. Temple will be very crowded on the Pournami (Full moon day). Temple is famous for Girivalam (walking around the temple for about 15kn during Pournami). I too had a very good experience of this. My life was changed from here only. Opposite to temple, you can get different idles and shopping materials like deepa's, idle, etc. On Full moon day, go for walk around the temple for 3 full moon days. It is very powerful. Along the way, we can get whatever we need like food, juices, water and all.Note: Toilets are good enough while walking, so, be careful and handy a towel.

Excellent temple and a nice place to visit

I visited this place two times in this year. Last time during september 2015. Please note below points before making a visit1. The temple will be very busy on weekends and holidays and it will take 2 hrs minimum for darshan on these days.2. During days of Girivalam (full moon day), it takes minimum 4 - 6 hrs for darshan. 3. Queue in the temple is very big and at few places there is less ventilation.4. Few shopkeepers will be selling food in the queue. You can purchase them. 5. Drinking water points are available in the queue. 6. The temple entrance has two queues. one on the left side of the door. This queue is for free / Rs. 20/- darshan and takes more time on full moon days. Other one is on the right side of the entrance. It is Rs. 100/- Queue and probably darshan will be little faster if you go in this queue. 7. If you are going to Darshan on Girivalam day (Full moon day), ensure to have stomach full of food so you won't feel hungry.

Morning and evening times are good for Darshana. This is a famous Shiva temple. The deity is Agni Linga, Ramana Maharshi came to this temple at his young age and meditated for long time and got enlightenment.
