Bagore Ki Haveli Overview

Ranked 6 of 184 sightseeing in Udaipur

Bagore Ki Haveli stands on the platform of Gangori Ghat in the vicinity of Pichola Lake. This ancient edifice displays delicate carvings and glass work. Built by Amir Chand Badwa, the Chief Minister of the Mewar Royal Court, it dates back to the 18th century. Maharana Shakti Singh of Bagore, who resided in the haveli, incorporated three storeys to the main structure, in 1878.

This mansion of Bagore that used to serve the royalty of Mewar was handed over to the West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC) in 1986 which planned to renovate the haveli and restore it to its old architectural style. In the museum present within the haveli, the aristocratic culture of Mewar has been portrayed.

Premium mural paintings of Rajasthan designed in Mewar, along with the costumes of the royal kings and modern art are notable highlights of the museum. Exclusive things of Rajputs like jewellery boxes, dice-games, hukkas and pan boxes form the collections of the museum.

In the museum are also displayed nut crackers, hand fans, rose water sprinklers, copper vessels and other items of the erstwhile rulers. Original paintings of Mewar are displayed in the Queen's Chamber.

The collections of the museum also include beautiful peacocks created with small pieces of coloured glass. After renovation, the haveli contains more than 100 rooms with well-arranged balconies, terraces, courtyards and corridors.

Intricate and fine mirror works embellish the interiors of the haveli. A visit to the haveli permits tourists to view the private quarters of the royal ladies, their bathrooms, dressing rooms, bedrooms, living rooms, worship rooms and recreation rooms.

If you are visiting Udaipur, a visit to Bagore Ki Haveli must fall on your schedule. Beautiful folk dance performances by local artists, puppet shows for kids, where you can purchase authentic rajasthani puppet. They arrange shows in evening entry is by ticket. Better to reach an hour is advance from ticket distribution time. Early birds will get seats at vantage point to enjoy the show in most satisfying way. Apart from cultural performances it has museum also.

Jaw dropping evening cultural show

Bagore ki Haveli is a place that has a big surprise in store for you! This place is not to be missed in Udaipur. Bagore ki haveli has a 1 hour cultural show in the evening from 7pm to 8pm. Reach early before 6pm to buy tickets as they get sold out really soon. The cultural show has Rajasthani folk dance, cultural music and a puppet show. Jaw dropping performances!

Awesome cultural prog called Dharohar

What is worth watching here is the typical Rajasthani Dance & Music Presentation in the evening every day. Very well conceived program of one hour duration is held only once a day. One must reach there well in advance to book the ticket as the seats are limited. This is a purely family entertainment with a historic value. We were very happy to see that they have maintained their rich cultural dharohar in such a meticulous way.

Udaipur's Traditional Arts And Crafts Museum

It was built by the Mewar's Prim Minister Shri Amar Chand Badwa, in 1751-78, after his death it has come to the Maharaj Nath Singh younger brother of Maharana of Mewar. It remains under the four Maharanas Sardar Singh, Shambhu Singh, Swaroop Sigh and Sajjan Singh from 1828-1884. Gangaur Ghat was built by Maharaj Bhim Singh in 1878 and Maharaj Shakti Singh has given a new look by exquisite glass inlay work on three arched gate in 1930, and later it was taken over by the Mewar State and it was used as Royal Guest House.Bagore ki Haveli is now a splendid museum exhibiting Udaipur's traditional arts and crafts, costumes, musical instruments and marble work. Folk Music and dance performances are held here every evening at 7pm. This attraction is very close the Jagdish Ji temple and Gangaur Ghat, where visitors can enjoy the art and crafts with live folk music and traditional Rajasthani folk dances. Indeed! It is a place of excitement and entertainment.

A must go place in Udaipur. Tickets start getting sold out around at 1800. One hour show from 1900, mind blowing. It is very nice to see how these people are preserving the heritage and showing their talent to people. Hats off.
