Good fall and not at all deep

All can play and take bath here, even small children can enjoy playing in water. This is not at all deep. But be careful not to enter the water on the left side of the barricade.

Balmuri Falls - Dangerous place and no bus facility to reach there

Nice place for weekend. Dangerous place but it will be thrilling. It is good to go with friends. But there is no bus facility, better have to go by own vehicle. It will be good when you go at Rainy season for view. Edmuri Falls is very near to it. It is safer compare to Balmuri Falls.

Not Falls but Check-dam

On a Saturday morning saw a small article on TOI about this falls being the spot in summer in Mysore and decided to drive down from where we were staying. It is on the KRS road just before you reach the Brindavan Garden Arch. There is a yellow colour Arch welcoming you to the Balmuri area. From here the road is horrible for about 2 km. Finally we reached the falls. It was peak of summer so was not expecting falls per se but made us feel bad is the way it was being abused. There were localities washing vessels in water and for those who were in enjoying the water littering it and hence I say abused.Overall this is like an Anicut. There is a wall built around on the flow of the river and this wall is about 6 ft high as the water overflows, it looks like a waterfall. I have read that it is a it is not safe for any kind of activity like coracle ride or stepping down into the falls. The terrain is rocky and dangerous. Even the walls holding the water is having holes with water seeping.I think probably this is a good place when the water is in full flow but advisable to skip it in summer.

Decided to experience and, jumped in

I visited Balmuri falls in the 2nd week of August 2014. I parked my bike and heard people speaking water force is too high. However, me and my cousin went ahead. Just after the parking, there is a temple of Lord Vinayaka on the left. Standing on the steps we could not experience the water force, but it was flowing very fast. Decided to experience and, jumped in. Believe me, I was more than 10 feet away when I came up. As people spoke, force was very high and I had risked myself. Be careful when you are in water. Sea foods and cold drinks are available near the falls. Only parking fee, no other fees are applicable.
