The boat ride is the best part

There is an island in the Kangsabati Dam which is accessible via ferry rides. Barapukuria Deer Park is within that island. It is small and quiet. Do check the timings before going as ferry rides end quite early.

Wilderness around

The Park is more like a Deer sanctuary, where you can see herds of Deer roaming in their natural habitat. They roam in a fenced area, and you see them from the other side. They are quite friendly, and may pose for a photo or come near the fence for a pat! It is not allowed to feed them. However you can enjoy clicking multiple photos of them, as they are habituated with human presence. The Park is on a small Island Barapukuria in the middle of River Kangsabati. The Park is at a distance of 2 kilometers from the shore and is reachable on the available van rickshaws at meager rent. It is advisable to wear hat and carry water, as you would be travelling at daytime.

Enjoy the sunset view and how the Deers are fed

This deer park is situated near Kangsabati & Kumari river meeting point named Sangam. One has to travel by motor boat to this place. Normally this boat carry about 20 to 25 people, but you can hire a full boat for your family. It takes 30 minutes to travel by boat. Boat journey in the kangsabati river is really enjoyable. After get down from the boat you have to hire Rickshaw or Maruti van otherwise you can go by walk about 2 kms. The charges for van and maruti is more a distance of 2 Kms road. They are charging Rs 250/- for a full motor van or Maruti(carrying 06 people). Locale people are running this trip. Though it is a walk-able distance. If you reach in the evening before 5 P. M you can see how deers are fed by forest department. They give a bell and all the deer come together and take their food. Presently there is no entry fees. Deers are put into an enclosure, opening time morning 0800 Hrs to evening 1700 Hrs. While returning from Banpukuria one can enjoy the sunset view on the river Kangsabati. You must carry your camera with you. No food is available.
