At the confluence of the three rivers: Sandhya, Kanta and Lalita; towards the south of the city of Dispur, the pilgrimage spot of Basistha Ashram is located. According to legend, these three rivers were named after the wives of Basistha Sage, who is known to have established this ashram. It is very close to the temple of Balaji just near the Inter State Bus Terminus.
