Bhau Kumbhar's Samadhi was constructed in 1938 to house the mortal remains of Shri Bhau Maharaj. Shri Bhau Maharaj, a devoted follower of Sai Baba, came to Shirdi in the last two or three years' of Sai Baba's life. He used to spend his money on others and donate his clothes to animals to provide shade to them.

It is believed that when someone gave him food, he donated it to less-fortunate people and animals. Folklore belief states that earth taken from the samadhi when mixed with castor oil can treat many problems and diseases of children. Locals also believe that they have witnessed Bhau Maharaj sweeping streets of Shirdi.
