Bhimli Overview

Ranked 34 of 46 sightseeing in Visakhapatnam

Bheemli Beach, also known as Bheemunipatnam Beach, is situated at the assemblage of Gosthani River and the Bay of Bengal. Situated on a 30 km long Bheemli Visakhapatnam Beach road, the beach offers beautiful view of sea, sand, hills and greenery. Dotted with fishing villages, pine trees and small temple structures, the beach is covered with golden sand.

Possessing historical and religious significance, the beach has various ruins of 17th century fort and cemetery. It is believed that the name of the beach is derived from the name Bheema, one of the Pandavas. Evidences for Dutch settlement in the earlier period of 16th century include the ruined fort, cemetery and a still functioning lighthouse. Apart from this, the historical evidences for Buddhist Culture dating back to 2nd century can be noticed on the hillock Pavuralakonda, popularly known as Narsimhaswami konda among locals.

Surrounded by beautiful lush green areas, the beach is adorned with various statues of Buddha. The beach is considered one of the safest and calmest locations for swimmers.

Unexplored place

There are very few waypoints or directions to discover the city, the beach is nice in location wise but not clean to enjoy. The Dutch cemetery and the shipwreck is not displayed, also the murals and the lighthouse is locked and not open for any observations.

Bhimli the king

Awesome and must watch. 23 kms from Visakhapatnam. Very beautiful and must see place in Visakhapatnam. Most beautiful during sunset. It takes 2-3 hours from city to go there, everything is there. Hotels are not there but the food especially seafood are super cool. I thank Holidayiq for giving me this opportunity to write review so that everybody can know about Bheemili (Bhimli) near Visakhapatnam.

It would be great if takencare

It's big beach but no one is there to taken care. It was very bad all wastewater is coming into beach so water was polluted over there. It would be great if it's taken care by people and govt. Because of that pollution sea animals are dying we can find those all over there. Please say no to plastic and save our earth.

The hill view is too good

Yes, it was a Paisa-vasool kind of a spot. We had fun! A lot of it. From my point of view, its a must visit location in Vizag. This place mesmerizes with all its beauty and wonder. So spend some solid time over there, and enjoy the hill view, it is too good.

Bears the Dutch Legacy

About 20 kms from R K Beach, a trip to Bhimili offers a splendid ride past the red sand hills, the Rama Naidu Film Studio, the excavated Buddhist sites of Thotlakonda, etc. Dotted with churches, Bhimili can boast of being one of the oldest municipalities of the country. It has a beautiful beach with lots of religious statues built along the coastline.

Its simply a beach. very dirty, not advisable to visit as its not worth going about 15km from the city to just watch a dirty beach.
