Huge fort - poorly maintained

There is no entry fee for this fort. Anyone can walk through it. Lot of the fort is destroyed by people or poor maintenance. There is a museum, Rangin quarter, Solah kumbh mosque and remnants of madrasa inside the fort. Gagan quarter is fully destroyed, the watchman said. To enter into Gagan quarter, you need to take permission from ASI. However ASI maintains a good garden inside the fort. Lot of sculptural artifacts are kept on either side of the walk way. The museum is small and well-maintained. Worth visiting - no entry fee. The bollywood movie, dirty picture was shot there. The door at the entrance is wood with iron topping. Huge and rich. There is no food or water facilities. If you still have the energy, one can go further and see the cannons and the fort wall on the other side.

Bidar Fort - The oldest monument in Bidar

If you are in Bidar visit then, this is the place you must visit. Bidar, also called as city of whispering monuments. One of the oldest olden monuments still exist in Bidar, built in 1424 by Bahamani Kingdom. The place reminds about the days by giving a glimpse of the architecture and proving the level of expertise in the design. The Fort is located in the northern part of city 1. 5 km away from central bus stand, easy to visit. It's beauty is proof of the historic value of this place. The key attraction is the central part of the Fort giving nice scenery fit photography, the core portion provides a museum with wide collection of Irani Guns, Bahamani Coins, and several other things in it.The place recently came into highlight as it is spotted by several film directors. The Bollywood song "Ishq sufiyana" was filmed here, similarly many other things happened. The outer part provides a canteen with variety of North Karnataka and North Indian food chain. The dinner over here is awesome, cool breeze blowing, olden monument, tasty food and few friends to hangout together, that's perfect. To visit this place you carry a camera, a group of friends be it family, and a little time with you.

Biggest Fort I have ever seen

This is the Fort of Bahamani Dynasty Kingdom, when they moved it's capital from Gulbarga to Bidar. It's a very big Fort borders with double wall in between gap is filled with water and water use to contain wild animals like Crocodile, Snakes etc, and very big thops for attacking enemies. You can see so many tombs inside and sculpture is simply superb. The green lawn in the form of 11 pillars mosque and old museum which has weapons like guns, pistols, tools, stones, bullets, knives, swords, thrones, lot more. Rangin Mahal is very beautifully designed one with Persian touch, and has jail in it and so many small wells for water as well is also used to hide when enemies attack, it even has very huge thops of 20feets on top with single stone made. Superb Fort, we can spend half day here, which is in old city. And we have one canteen to finish up our hunger! Enjoy walking!

Place is great to visit

Great place to visit, never thought that Bidar fort would be so vast in its area but the entry inside the museum was not possible because of the renovation process. Waiting for another opportunity to get back to Bidar and visit all the places Ive missed.

A popular tourist spot in Bidar

Fort is quite a popular tourist destination in Bidar. You would surprise to know that we went to the fort in the late evening - it was my brother's plan. You will notice that the fort walls are spread across and will run along with the road to the fort's main gate. It was getting darker and fort looked pretty daunting and then we reached the main gate, it was the best ever entry to a fort, a huge gate completely desolated no one to bother you just enter and processed towards the main fort building, trust me it's too picturesque to enter such a place. It was completely dark and we were feeling we are in middle of horror movie set. That is when my brother told me that this fort is just open for all and a portion which is under archaeological department is closed for public and right in the middle of the fort is restaurant which will appear out of nowhere. You will love to have dinner in middle of such a big fort in an open restaurant. Next day we did go in the morning to see the fort again it was beautiful and few fellow tourist informed us that this where the famous song from Bollywood movie Dirty Picture was shot here in the fort staring Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi.
