Chauth Mata Temple is situated at a distance of 35 km from Sawai Madhopur city. This ancient temple was built by Maharaja Bhim Singh. The Maharaja brought the idol of Chauth Mata from Pachala, 15 km from Bharwada, and placed it atop a hill. Later a temple was built there. Apart from the idol of Lord Bhairav, the temple also has the idol of Lord Ganesha. Chauth Mata is the main deity of the ruler of this region.
The architecture of the temple is in typical Rajput style. White marble was used in its construction the walls, pillars and ceilings are beautifully decorated with intricate designs.
Since it is situated on a hilltop, the pilgrims will have to climb stairs to reach the temple. Festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi attract large number of devotees to the temple.
Besides the pilgrims, who flock the temple in hundreds daily, adventure tourists also visit the temple. As one can have a panoramic view of the surrounding villages and meadows.
The Chauth Mata temple can be reached by taxi, bus or autorickshaw from Sawai Madhopur. One can drop in at the nearby villages to have a look at their lives during the trip to the temple.
