Location is very good and we went in rains which we enjoyed a lot. Staff is cooperative. It was a wonderful experience visiting Auli. It is just getting there which was trying. We were a group of 13 adults and a 2 year kid. We had hired a Tempo traveller from Delhi (probably the best way to travel in the North). We took a Rajdhani from Bombay to Delhi. After a day in Delhi we left for Rishikesh which is about 260 Kms from Delhi. Judging from Bombay standards we had assumed it would take around 4-5 hours, but the roads of you. P were a rude shock. We were crawling at an average speed of around 20 kms and reached Meerut after 3 hrs. The problem was aggravated by the fact that it was harvest time and the entire highway was dotted by tractors with trailers carrying at least 10 times the load specified by the manufacturers. At times it became difficult even to spot the driver and you felt as if the vehicle was driven by a ghost! The entire highway was full with these vehicles and the fact that the local vehicles were captained by some really rash drivers including the state transport vehicles. Once we entered Utterances the situation became slightly better, the traffic thinning a little bit and sanity setting in. We reached Rishikesh (our resort was another 10 kms from here) at 6 P. M a good 10 hrs drive for 260 kms We stayed at Rishikesh for 2 days (there are lot of beautiful camps there I would suggest that one stays there on the shore rather than in a resort). At Rishikesh we did river rafting which is not for the faint hear ted. But if you are faint hear ted go ahead and do it anyways- it's worth it. We started from Rishikesh at 4 in the morning because we had adjusted to the pace at which we could travel, so much so that we had also packed our lunch to avoid the lunch break. We had to reach Joshimath at 3 so as not to miss the last cable to Auli failing which we would had to stay the night in Joshimath (not a very interesting proposition, we discovered). On our route we discovered one more aspect about Uttaranchal: the landscape we encountered was breathtakingly beautiful and government stance notwithstanding, the locals wanted to keep it to themselves! The locals are nothing if not hostile, a funny attitude for a place which has got nothing but natural beauty, and no other industry except tourism. We managed to reach Joshimath at 12. 30 pm well before our ETA, in spite of the mud slides, funny (at best) drivers, of local drivers and some amazingly breathtaking sites of the Himalayas. We hit our next road block in the form of a lady manning (ironical) the cable car. She would just not allow the cable to move until the car was full and brought us right back into Mumbai locals, even after its scheduled departure. The cable car ride is one of the most amazing rides ever! It climbs at an almost 75 degrees and boasts of being one of the best rides. The view is such that you forget and forgive just about everything that happened to you enroute. It was also our first viewing of snow in our life and also during the trip. We were put up in Cliff top Club, the only private resort there- other one being operated by. The resort looked out of sorts because the photograph in the brochure was with full snow cover and when we went it had not snowed unfledged making the resort look like queen wearing rags. But exteriors apart the resort is very nice and the people- everybody from top to bottom- are amazing friendly and co-operative. The food at the resort was the best we had in our entire trip (stick to the basic Punjabi; the location's proximity to China has failed to affect the culinary skills of the chef there . We were slightly disheartened by the fact that in spite of the snow it enough for skiing. Killing the very purpose of the visit, as if you are not skiing there is nothing much to do in Auli. The rooms were amazingly large and well furnished; the only hitch is hot water is available only in mornings (some rule because it falls inside the Nandadevi national park). With nothing much to do except watching the second highest peak and some snow fight, we decided to check out earlier. The resort group had another resort in Nainital and they adjusted our one day stay there. We started from Auli to Nainital at 11 in the morning and reached Nainital at 12 that night; again it was only 180 kms. But we were acclimatized by now to hills and the roads. We reached Nainital through one of the most god-forsaken roads and with literally no help from the government (there are no signboards on the road through out the state). There was a loud cheering and clapping whenever we encountered a signboard !. The resort at Nainital was equally good but this one was also beautiful from outside. We checked out few places and we started for Agra. No one had thought you could do it, but we are all fans of Adidas (Nothing is Impossible)! After much convincing and 4 grand the driver agreed. We finally made it to Agra at the witching hours, on our way we came very close to the interiors of the state, and some very rare sights- a visit to a jaggery factory inside the sugarcane farms and bridge across a river shared by both railways and the highway! No kidding you actually drive on the railway tracks; I don't know if this facility exists anywhere else in the universe. At Agra we did the usual rounds of the Taj quarter (everybody felt that is was overrated and the Himalayas were far too superior). We left Agra for Matura from where we were to take August Kranti Rajdhani to Mumbai (we also visited Krishna Janmabhoomi at Matura and bought pedas one of the best I will tell you! The train was on time and we reached Mumbai next day without fuss Thus ended one of the most unfilled and adventurous journeys!
Location : . . Good : It is at the highest location at Auli with forest and accessible snow peaks on back side and scenic snow cl added peaks on front. One can see picturesque view of Nanda Devi peak from the rooms. Bad : Motorable road is 1. 5 kms away from hotel. For the rest 1. 5 kms, you are required to take chair car. There is chair car facility which operates between 9. 30 a. M to 4. 30 p. M. If you don't reach before 4. You can't go to hotel. The chair car charge is Rs 300 per person and they take additional seats for luggage. We paid Rs 2400/- for 6 people and luggage Hotel :. Good : Hotel have suites and apartments. Though the booking was for up to 4 adults, we were 4 adults and 2 kids and stayed without paying additional for kids. Rooms are spacious with lot of sunlight and all requisites. Spacious beds, sofa sets, dining table set, Television, room heaters etc. Every room have independent balcony. Cleanliness and room service is excellent Bad : The tieup is only for rooms. So kitchen set is not provided. Usually one carries eatables and food items but you can't cook as they don't provide hot plate and oven along with utensils for members Restaurant :. Good : Food is tasty and pricing is reasonable. Service is good Bad : The menu list is limited. But considering the geography it is fair Amenities :. Good : It have table tennis, snooker, carom and other stuff for indoor activities. Club hall is large enough to accommodate 15-20 groups. All facility is free unlike club Mahindra Outdoor activities like trekking, horse riding, skiing are available at reasonable cost Overall good experience. Considering harsh weather condition, 7 nights stay is too long. I actually stayed for 5 nights but family members got tired after 4th day. So 4 nights stay is ideal.

With a group of four friends we planned for skiing & we were there in Auli, a famous place for skiing in Dev bhoomi Uttarakhand. Hotel Clifftop Club is what we choose for our two day stay, just accomplishing its name Clifftop to reach hotel we need to ride on a cable car, which was comfortable & secure. After that, there was steep incline downwards from the Cable car station near hotel and downhill walk to the Hotel. At arrival at the hotel we noticed the beautifully designed building having greenery all across the property. Hotel has sufficient parking for the guests vehicles, interior was neat & clean so as our rooms. Housekeeping staff was punctual in there work, as wash-rooms looks clean & bad odour free. Staff was friendly & supportive. Rooms has wide glasses through which we can see the panoramic view of snow clad Mountain. Hotel staff told us the mountain ranges are Nara Narayan on the west horizon to Nandadevi (highest peak of Uttarakhand), its all looks divine everywhere. Hotel has all the amenities needed in cold weather as warm water, heater also our room has TV with cable, bed was clean & comfortable. Food offered was quite good & vegetables was so fresh & testier. One of the best stay.
Stay at Clifftop Club was amazing. It wasn't the resort that was too good or anything, but the place! I assure you, once you arrive at Auli, even a shack would be good enough for you. The view, the snow (please visit Auli in ONLY! ), The people are amazing. I stayed in their Suite as I had RCI membership, it was really nice. The balcony was filled with snow. Loved the place. The rooms are nicely built and stuffed. Food is limited as the nearest shop is around 4-5 km down the hill and the only way to go there is trek. Food in the hotels is not that bad though. However, this one time there was some hot water issue and I had to take a cold Bath, that was a nightmare! There are frequent power cuts and there's no power backup but, the beauty and serenity of the place cover it all up. Also, they offer skiing option at dirt cheap prices (it was Rs. 500 per person per day), that's the best thing about it.
