This is the newer resort from Club Mahindra in Coorg. The other one is in Madikeri which is an older one. We checked in on a Sunday and checked out on Tuesday and just after all the mad rush during New Years eve was over. So the resort was quiet and empty. This was a family trip (6 adults and 3 kids) and the resort was well suited for us. The resort is spacious, with greenery all around. Unlike Madikeri when reaching this resort the Ghat section isn't that much, which has been a plus since some of us tend to have motion sickness. Travelling from Bangalore on the Mysore road state highway we took a right just at Srirangapatna and the road was bad for a few kms. There is another route which would have been better had we taken a right after about a few kms route) . . The rooms are good, spacious. Sleep quality is good. Bathrooms are good and neat and each of the rooms had a balcony to relax. The shower area has an all in one shampoo conditioner soap which comes out of a dispenser. While this may seem a good idea, I personally prefer soap and shampoo as we are normally used too. The pool one can say isn't very big, but it isn't tiny or one does not feel cramped for space Since we were travelling with kids the activities area was important. You get the usual like badminton, kids play area, a mini basket ball court and there was a mini cricket pitch I think. The indoor activities were the common ones - carom, pool, chess, video games, car racing games etc. There one child proof area specially for toddlers which was nice and the lone infant among us had a gala time. There wasn't any evening get together (bonfire) or games like tombola arranged by the resort. This may be because of the lean bookings during our stay. The food however is good but nothing much to differentiate from other resorts of Mahindra. The exception is the pasta and the pizza live counter which my nephews liked or the tasty hummus and falafel which I love. We didn't venture out but, there weren't any restaurants in the vicinity. For coffee lovers who are used to the strong filter coffee in the south, the coffee is okay, but not what we are used to. I preferred to have tea over coffee on the last day. Staff was courteous and helpful. We never ordered in room dining except for tea and once for a sandwich which never came by the way (but there was some confusion cause by us). If you order to the room there is a delivery charge of 50 Rs
Hosting a conference for over 200 people can be a nightmare in so many ways . Yet we managed to do it smoothly at Club Mahindra, Virajpet . It is a huge property with about 150 rooms and spread out over a large area . The greenery around is amazing and from the huge lobby one can oversee some really tall trees in the distance . There are plenty of things to do including indoor games, an outdoor pool, many adventure activities, plantation walks etc . Food quality was very good, buffet variety was nice and everything was tasty. We had 2 breakfast, 2 lunch and 2 dinner each and still there was sufficient variety . The conference hall is a bit tight to host a big event, but we managed . Most rooms are large and have 2 double beds so a family can stay easily. They are also equipped with dining table, microwave, dish washing liquid etc so that a family stay can be made as comfortable as possible . This is right in the woods mind you and about 15 minutes drive to Virajpet. No big cities nearby . Staff is a bit laid back and service could be better still, they actually did some goofups also during the meet, but were not noticed by many . Still a good property and great for a break from the city madness
As a Club Mahindra member living in Bangalore, I was quite excited about visiting their new property in Virajpet. I had been for a vacation in Coorg a few times before, and so the opportunity to check out an undiscovered part of the district drew me. The first sight of the property was very encouraging. It was large and sprawling, though the look was very similar to the one they have in Madikeri The bedroom with dry kitchen was spacious as expected, and the furnishings and furniture was of a good quality. But sleeping the first night was difficult because there was no a/c in the room and the night was quite warm. The ornate fans were not much use, and so the next day my wife asked for ( and got a pedestal fan to help us stay cool The resort was a good launch place from where we went to explore Thadienda mol, the quaint Nalkanad palace etc. The Thadienda mol was the highlight of our trip. The hotel activity centre tried to tell us we needed to take a hired jeep with guide ( priced at Rs. 3500/- but I was quite sure that with my four wheel drive, I did not need the hire Jeep. This proved to be true as I was able to drive up to a clearing about a km beyond the palace without any trouble. The two hours we spent climbing up was quite enjoyable with a spectacular view and after some time it was cool and shady and not too difficult. About 1/2 an hour from the top we decided to turn back as it started to rain heavily and we decided it was safer to head back rather than go on in inclement weather There is not much to do at the resort itself though the swimming pool looked very inviting. The food is good, with very generous portions, though pricing is a bit on the higher side ( Rs. 500/- for a Chicken Biryani ). We had two meals in Virajpet town as we wanted to eat local dishes rather than typical start hotel menus. The food at Greens was very good End April was perhaps not the best time to go there as its very hot during the day. Fortunately it rained on two of the three nights, we were there which brought the temperature down a bit.
The hotel is good. I will suggest others to stay over here. Nice front office and good gym. Swimming pool was fantastic. Garden is excellent. Room service is best. My family and I enjoyed a lot. Sightseeing is fantastic. Its a lovely place to stay. Its very cost effective. Food was very good.
Located 18 kilometres from the town the Resort is set amongst the Plantation. Very first appearance is mesmerizing with Coffee, tea, Black Pepper etc; welcoming you with its heady aroma and clean air. The fact that the Resort is excellent is confirmed by the Lobby which is amongst the best of all resorts. Rooms are of three types namely. Cottages, One Bedroom and Studio Apartments with Cottage being the best offering complete privacy and can accommodate a large family of 8 people. While one bedroom can accommodate 4 people with privacy for a couple. Studio Apartments can accommodate a couple comfortably. The Rooms are well appointed with all amenities including kitchenette. Each Room offers a panoramic view of the mountains which is mesmerizing. The whole Resort is well appointed offering a wonderful ambience, has a swimming pool and a fine dining restaurant offering delectable cuisine. The lighting stands out during night.
