Cricket Ground Overview

Ranked 10 of 15 sightseeing in Chail

Cricket Ground at Chail is located at an altitude of 2444 m above sea level and is the highest cricket ground in the world. This cricket ground was built by the Maharaja of Patiala in 1893.

At present, this ground is being used as a playground by Chail Military School. It is also used as a polo ground during the time of vacations. Encircled with thick forests of deodars and pines, the ground comprises a beautiful tree house at one of its corners. Though a beautiful landmark, the ground is not open to civilians.

Now school students are using

The place has been handed over to school now, school uses it as its playground, however the place is a must visit and one should see the labour used to make it.

Worst place to visit

Top above the hill there was a ground which was locked and just you could see from outside. No cricket pitch at all, just jungli grass everywhere, road to there were worst, total time waste and not recommended.

Bad experience visiting this place

We visited this place, but could not enter the Cricket ground, the doors from all sides were closed. We had to watch from outside, which we did. There was no-one over there to tell us about it.

Not Worth, Waste of Time

Its not a cricket ground. Its just a school playground which is naturally located near Kaali temple. Its always closed and no one is allowed to enter the ground. You can see the ground from outer gate which is also closed, total waste of time, don't visit.

Just a ground

It is just a ground built at maximum height in the world I hope but it is neither a tourist place nor a cricket ground as mentioned. After reaching there I feel like some wrong choice has brought me here & I left for Chail market.
