Dayal Bagh Temple Overview

Ranked 31 of 118 sightseeing in Agra

Dayal Bagh is a pilgrimage site in Agra, which is popular for the memorial of Shiv Dayal Sahib, the founder of the Radha Soami Satsang Movement. He started this religious organisation in 1861, which combines the elements from Hinduism, Christianity, Sikhism and Buddhism.

The memorial in Dayal Bagh has been built to worship Shiv Dayal Sahib, who was popularly known as Soami Maharaj by his disciples. The 110 feet high memorial is a combination of temple, gurudwara, vihara and mosque.

The memorial is made of pure white marble and features numerous pillars and fine pietra dura inlay work on the inner walls. This building has been continuously under construction for the past 100 years.

Waste time ...

Wonderful carvings on marble. Huge temple complex made out of marble. The most of the building was under construction and closed for visitors, what was left was a small garden and the well. If the building gets completed then it would be a great place but if only

A grand Samadhi at building stage

It's a Samadhi and Garden dedicated to Radha Soami sect in Hindus. There is no entry charge for it and it's still at building stage. It's made up of White Marble and has a very nice architecture.

Competing Taj

This is my fourth visit to the place and it still remains serenely beautiful. The sculptures on marble can easily compete with the works found in Taj. This place is a must-visit-thing in Agra.

Art, beautifully carved

On your visit to Agra, a visit to the Radha Swami Samadhi at Dayalbagh must not be missed. It is an epitome of Marble art. The building is a samadhi of the Radha Swami Guru, with the samadhi in the basement of the temple. The temple is built in white marble from Makrana of Rajasthan and has been under construction since the past 110 years and still another 20 more years or so to go until the completion of the building. Inside the main building complex, do not miss the beautiful intricately carved out fruits and vegetables on each pillar and arch. All the vegetables, fruits and flowers we see are carved out in marble - you name it they have it. The entry is free of cost and you can tip the guards if you wish for them to guide you through the area.

Could be way better

Not extraordinary, just average. It may be better, but management is not interested.
