The biggest hollow Stupa in Asia

This structure is known for its graceful design and architecture and is a memorial dedicated to Baba Saheb which was inaugurated by the President Of India KR Narayanan on 18th Dec-2001. Deeksha Bhoomi, the biggest hollow Stupa in Asia, is a sacred monument of Buddhism at the place where Baba Saheb BR Ambedkar converted to Buddhism along with about 380,000 followers on October 14, 1956. Ambedkar's conversion to Buddhism is still a guidance for the masses in India. Deeksha Bhoomi makes Nagpur a location regarded as a pilgrimage centre of Buddhism in India. Thousands of pilgrims visit Deekshabhoomi every year, especially on Ashok Vijaya Dashmi and the 14th of October. It is being copied from the Great Stupa of Sanchi and the images of the ornamental gates and three tiered umbrella at the top, which signifies the Buddhism. Inside very peaceful atmosphere and at the centre Lord Buddha and a picture gallery where Baba Saheb is focussed. As Babasaheb completed the Constitution of India on 06 Nov 1949 and mentioned that The People Of India Having Solemnly Resolved To Constitute India Into A Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic, Republic and to secure to all its Citizens, Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity.Sufficient security arrangements including a Police Station inside the campus. Statues of Lord Buddha and Babasaheb are of great attraction including the inscription of our constitution and Maha Bodhi Tree. Futala lake, Seminary Hills etc are the other attractions for the visitors which are situated nearby. Photography inside is not allowed.

Good architecture

The photographs of Dr Ambedkar, of Indian Constitution, He is worshiped here and his followers come from far and beyond with slogans of Jai Bhim. Some more of housekeeping and this can be similar to Shanti Ghat, Vijay Ghat of Delhi.

Calm, quite and peaceful place to meditate

The Buddhist sacred monument is clean, calm and serene. The stupa also houses Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial and photogallery displaying snapshots of Baba Saheb's life. Another attraction is the Bodhi tree nearby.

A peaceful place

This place is the major attraction for their round shape like stoop and this is the place of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar where he took the Deeksha from their Guru. Hence called the Deeksha Bhoomi. This place is very peaceful and situated near the Dr Ambedkar College and open only in morning and in evening.
