The location of the hotel was good and I did not find any issues in finding the hotel. The appearance of the hotel was good and the interiors were nice too. The staff members in the hotel were helpful and quick in services. There was no delay in check-in and check-out. The food served in the hotel was good in quality, and the price was reasonable too. The room allotted to me was nice with all required amenities in working condition. There were activities in the hotel and it was good. Overall, the destination and the stay at the hotel were good, it surely is worth the pay and I will recommend this hotel to other travellers.
Dhikala Forest Lodge is in the core area of the Corbett Tiger Reserve. It is a large complex as compared to other forest rest houses in the area. It has 24 hours of power supply. It also has a fully functional canteen. The food looks overpriced but then considering it being in the core region of a forest, I would say it's quite decent. The rest house is surrounded by a electric fence to keep wild animals especially elephants away. The best thing is that your safari begins the moment rest house gate is opened in the morning. It is a much sought place among nature lovers due to its location overlooking the Ramganga River.
We booked Dhikala Forest Lodge, as it lies in the core area of the Jim Corbett National park. Situated next to a huge reservoir and surrounded by grasslands, this is the best place to sight birds and wildlife. We were able to sight herds of elephants grazing along with deer. We could see muggers and Grail swimming in the reservoir (Telescope needed, as the reservoir is fairly large) 7 ratings each for destination and location. India's oldest national park, and home to royal Bengal tiger and endangered gharials. Modest rating for appearance and office, as the buildings are quite old. It's like Govt. Offices, but its situated right in the middle of the jungle, so can't see the resorts located from outside. Modest ratings again for food and activities as not much options available. Again nothing much to expect in a jungle. People come here to enjoy nature, not luxury It offers the feeling of living in a jungle. So amenities are all very basic but not minimal, as Jim Corbett caters to many foreign tourists. If someone wishes to stay inside the park (as all the resorts are on the outer) then this is certainly the most luxurious place. Food was good. Priced at Rs 270 per plate, we were served a buffet. Food was aesthetically prepared. It was delicious, something difficult to imagine in the middle of jungle. Not many choices though, but whatever offered was good. Besides this there is only one other restaurant, which is cheap, but only basic food is served, that too on pre-order. And one thing, food served is completely veg. Non-veg is not allowed. Drinks are not allowed As it is located in jungle, we have to forget our worldly pleasures. Forget the noise of mobiles, distraction of TV etc. Mobile signals are very bleak and only Idea and Vodafone work there (again very low signals and infrequent). Electricity is available only for lightning and charging purpose. So the entire setting is there to make feel the wild. Forget our job, responsibilities and just relax. Clear night sky, full of stars adds to the ambience Some advice for the travellers:. As there are very limited no of rooms, so try to book at the earliest, Dhikala in all has around 20-30 rooms only, and booking starts 45 days in advance. Most of the rooms are taken on the first day itself. The Dhikala area opens on Nov 15 every year and closes on June 30, so bookings are done only for this period. The rainy periods should be avoided, as roads get washed away, and rivers are flooded. So most of the safaris will be cancelled. We missed two days due to heavy rainfall, managed only a day. And sometimes one day is not enough for sighting a tiger. It all depends on luck.
Close to the edge of the Ramganga reservoir with dry scrub vegetation. It is not a luxury resort outside the jungle but is the best place to be there inside the Corbett Jungle core Tiger reserve area! Food is vegetarian but good and home style. You can still do some of the touristy stuff like go on an elephant safari! It is easily the best area to spot the tiger, as it is open grassland, and not the dense jungle cover in other places!
Hotel location was not that much convenient. I stayed there with my family and friends both in May 2013. Inside and outside look of the hotel was bad. Room was clean. We took food in the hotel and outside also. Billiards was there but it was not proper. Pick-up and drop facility was not available there. WiFi facility was not provided by them. Overall, my experience in this hotel was not good. There was no delay in check-in and check-out time. It was a value for money hotel. It is not a recommendable hotel to others. No comments were there.
Location was nice. Staff was very nice. Appearance was nice. Rooms were nice; all amenities were working. Check in and out was okay. Car parking available. No activities. Food was very nice; very tasty. Booking was comfortable; good destination. Value for money very cheap. Adventurous trip with friends.
The location of the Dhikala forest lodge is near to the Ramganga river. Very good view of the river from the rest house. All services of the rest house is good and well maintained. Rooms are clean, comfortable and no problem faced in the room. Food is very tasty. The Ramganga river is full occupied the forest and it is the beauty of the forest.
Pleasant and wonderful stay; the atmosphere of staying in the heart of the forest is very exciting; people are friendly and courteous and take care of you very we'll; the safaris are well planned and coordinated; rooms are clean and comfortable; I definitely recommend a trip here and the stay at dhikala jungle lodge for one of the best forest experiences ever
Having an exclusive holiday in one of India's best National Parks was a dream I had nurtured for long. Friends who had been there had spoken of Dhikala Tourist Lodge and said that without staying there, a trip to Corbett would be incomplete. Opportunity came along this March from 13th to 15th . . We reached Ramnagar on 12th itself and stayed at Hotel Suman Grand. Took a day trip that afternoon through Durgadevi gate and fell in love with the forest immediately 13th morning sharp at 10 am driver came to pick us up from the hotel and within an hour we were deep inside enjoying the fascinating drive through the Sal forest heading towards the lodge. The reception at the desk could have been a little more warmer however but the premises of the lodge was so beautiful that these little things didn't matter Having put up at the New Lodge adjacent to the Old Rest House I longingly envied its balcony and wondered what would it have required to have a booking there. On inquiry I found that it was specially reserved for the VIP's and booking was done from Dehradun But the New Lodge, though it didn't have a balcony offered clean rooms and was spacious. A good view of the Ramganga river was also available from the windows. The housekeeping was standard, up to the requirement Since food was part of the package along with the forest safaris, we did not have to bother about anything. All meals were served in the dining hall as per rule and the staff there were particularly courteous and helpful. Though the meal was purely vegetarian there were a good many options to choose from There was no television in the room and rightly so for deep inside the woods, one becomes so engrossed with the music of nature all around that the need to sit indoors doesn't arise. However it can really get crowded in peak season so advance booking is recommended. Room service like tea-coffee also should be at the tourist's disposal and not be served just once as part of the package. Even if you are willing to pay extra, the room-service people do not show much of an interest in making it available. Availability of soap, shampoo, tissues could make staying a little more hands-free and yes the lights in the room and the wash basins need to be better maintained. But overall the warmth of the driver and his earnestness in making the tourists feel comfortable while at safari with tales from the Jungle made up for everything. And not to forget the evening documentaries on Jim Corbett in the library made for a real treat in the heart of the jungle. Would love thank Holiday IQ Thanks for everything. :)
