Dibru Saikhowa Wildlife Sanctuary is situated on the alluvial flood plain of the River Brahmaputra in Assam. The sanctuary is located at the confluence of River Lohit and River Brahmaputra. The Brahmaputra River originates from the Mansarovar that is surrounded by Mount Kailash in western Tibet.

The sanctuary was declared as a National Park in 1999, with an added area of around 340 sq. km. It provides shelter to aqua fauna, wildlife and avifauna. The sanctuary is covered with moist deciduous forest and semi-wet evergreen forest.

Indian elephant, royal Bengal tiger, leopard, clouded leopard, hoolock gibbon, wild buffalo and feral horses are some of the animals seen in the sanctuary. It is also home to various migratory birds, such as white-winged wood duck, Bengal florican, spotted billed pelican and lesser adjutant stork.
