Big Banyan tree, relaxing, birds watch

5 of us had a bike ride to Big Banyan tree on Saturday morning. It's around 35kms from Udupi garden signal, BTM. We covered it in 40mins. Take right after Brigade Panorama and in front of Rajrajeshwari College of Engineering. There was no entry fees. Less crowded, as it was early morning. There are lot of squirrels, Mina's, eagles and other birds. Monkey group was looking out for any hunch for food items with us. There are benches to sit and relax. We spent around 1hr 30 mins and left.

An awesome park with Banyan Trees and Monkeys

Situated about 40 Kms away from Bangalore is the Banyan Tree Park or the Monkey Park which is a nice picnic spot outside the city. The numerous Banyan Trees and the spiral roots of the Banyan Trees make this area an ideal location for film shooting and for a getaway from the hectic city life. It was called Monkey Park too because of the numerous Monkeys in the area.

Well known Dodda Aalada Mara ( Banyan Tree )

Located very close to the city, the Big Banyan Tree, popularly known as Dodda Aalada Mara, is a very good picnic spot for the entire family. Enjoy the day with family and friends at the great tree, with its picturesque location. Have fun and food (beware of the Monkey menace!!! ). Well-connected by road and no problem for car parking.

Not much to do there

I went there on a cycling tour. The trail is good since its mostly away from the main highways etc. And this was like a checkpoint to rest for sometime. It is like a park which is completely covered in a Banyan tree's shadow. The tree is huge and humongous. You can find some Monkeys there too. Apart from that, there is nothing much to do.

Weekend picnic spot from Bangalore

Nice place to spend some time away from the normal city life. Around 40 km from Bangalore city centre. Beware of monkeys, they don't like you carrying food there. If you're stressed from the normal shopping malls in Bangalore take a bike ride and relax for some time. I read somewhere that Banyan tree produces the max amount of oxygen. So this place must have the max amount of oxygen.
