Information about culture

This museum holds the genuine lifestyle, attire, livelihood, cuisine and other activities of the tribals settled in Meghalaya. Can be listed in the sightseeings within Shillong. Look around for the models of tribal people showing their dresses and you get carried away in their aura. Easy to reach and is a part of to do list on a Shillong trip.

Your Dose of Culture.

Although I would suggest that every person should visit this place just to experience the sheer brilliance of it, anyone who is a history and culture buff cannot afford to miss it. Spread over 7 levels, this museum will leave you overwhelmed with the amount of thought and hard work that has gone into it. Visitors to the museum are given access to the latest technology to experience history. On display is the evolution of all the tribes that find home in the Northeast of India; their origin, their food habits, clothes, jewelry, tools, etc. Visitors can also watch movies that explain these things better. And the best part of the museum is the sky walk on the topmost floor that feels like a walk in the clouds.

Excellent museum- never miss!

It was a great experience visiting this piece of ornate and glorious assemblage of the north-eastern culture and lifestyle! This is a museum, a one of its kind and a must visit when you are in Shillong. Keep at least 4 hours to visit its 7 floors of well maintained galleries and models. It gives a glimpse of the whole of the north east and its culture. A treasure trove of information for those interested in culture and people. Also don't miss out on the sky-walk atop the museum that gives a panoramic view of Shillong city.

Interesting, well-maintained and diverse

The Don Bosco Museum is one of the best museums I have been in so far. One can get to know all about the Seven Sister states of our proud India :) There are seven floors in this Museum and each floor has separate topic to cover and showcase for all the visitors. You get a view of culture, religion, weaponry, tribal distribution, tribal diversity, handicrafts, housing patterns etc.Take a trip on the skywalk and see the entire Shillong city :) come down finally to the Food Gallery and get a taste of North East cuisine with dishes from all over the North East. The price is quite economical, and the veg and non veg are cooked in separate kitchen. The tea is quite exquisite. Do give this museum a chance. It's one of the best.

One of the best Museum

One of the best museum's we have seen in our entire life. You will be able to see the history of the region. Art, Culture and everything with respect to all the social groups/communities were explained in detail. The best part of the museum is the skywalk which will enable you to see the school behind the museum and also of the city. The people inside the place are co-operative. You need to deposit Rs. 100 if you are carrying a camera.

The state of the art

The museum has various floors depicting the beautiful states the North East. It talks about the various North Eastern cultures, its people, the food etc. Apart from that there is a show towards the end that showcases the beauty of this side of India. Once you are done with this visit the Skywalk on top of the museum. All in all I would recommend everyone to go and visit this place once.

Great place to learn

Seven floors of great exhibits and galleries, culminating in a beautiful view of Shillong from the terrace. Make sure you have at least 2 to 2. 5 hours to see the whole thing at leisure.
