This was a business trip (sounds strange "a business trip to Goa" but it's true & have been doing this since past 20 years) & was looking out for a decent place to stay near Calangute beach (plenty of pure veg options in & around, hence I stay in this area) & after checking out on various hotel booking portals I selected this place since it offered a good deal (off season in Goa) well within my budget. I stayed here for four nights . . What I liked about this resort. 1] Check-in was very quick & although I was 1 hour before the normal check-in time I was allotted room immediately on my arrival. Front office staff is very co-operative. 2] I had booked a superior room with pool facing balcony. Room was big, clean with nice & comfy double bed, Flat TV, Split AC unit, plenty of storage place, small refrigerator etc 3] Washroom was big & very clean. Hot water is available 24 hours. Basic toiletries like soap, shampoo & towel are provided. 4] Requests for room cleaning & change of towels were promptly attended to. 5] Swimming pool is one of the highlight of this resort & you can view the same from balcony of your room. Every morning pool is cleaned by the staff. 6] Location is one of the major plus point of this resort. It is located in Holiday street & Calangute beach (not the main entrance) is 2 - 3 minutes walking distance from this place. If you are interested in shopping there are few shops around where you can buy beach wear clothes, cashews etc 7] The resort has lot of greenery around which makes you feel happy & relaxed while staying here. What I did not like about this resort. 1] Pool timings were 8 am to 8 pm, can be extended till 9 pm. 2] There was a telephone in the room but it was not working. Hence you had to move out of your room for any service required. They will start the connections soon that was the word from room service staff. 3] TV noise was erratic. Sometime loud & sometimes very low. This needs to be solved. A Veg / Non Veg restaurant is there in the resort but since I did not try any meals there I can not comment on the same. For me it was a perfect place to relax after a hard day's work. Would definitely recommend this place to business travelers, couples & families as well.
We had been to this resort from 11th to 17th Oct'2013. It was a very enjoyable experience. The front office as well as the hotel staff were very helpful and co-operative. The greatest plus of this resort is its location - very near to the famous Calangute and Baga beaches yet nestled in a serene surrounding free from the hustle and bustle. The resort has a small but clean swimming pool in a natural surrounding which further adds to its ambience. Restaurant is nice though a bit costly, Rooms are large and airy. However, there are scope for improvement so far the room amenities are concerned. But then, this is a non-issue. Overall it was a pleasant experience. Will definitely visit here again and again.
The stay at Dona Julia Resort was a good experience. As it is, you don't get time to stay in the hotel at Goa. But location wise the hotel is at a perfect location. Its just couple of minutes way from the beach. The beach is part of Calangute beach and gives you a quiet atmosphere if you require. The main Calangute beach is 10-15 min walk (along the beach) which is always bustling with people and full of all adventure sports. The amenities in the hotel are basic. One problem is that they don't have intercom facility in the rooms. So, for even basic requirements like drinking water, you have to come to the reception which is on the ground floor. The property is well maintained. There is a clean pool to relax if you want to and a poolside bar cum restaurant with a variety of options available. Nearby the hotel, there are many shops wherein you can get bikes on rent. Tito's Lane and Baga beach are 5-7 minutes ride from the hotel. A suggestion to all travelers is to avoid the Tito's Bar as the quality has deteriorated significantly. Further, the shacks at the Baga beach are some of the best I've been to. Do try out the awesome food at Fisherman's Cove which is on the way to Aguada Fort. Anjuna Curlies is another good place. Anjuna beach is not recommended during evening time especially after sunset as it is quite dark there without any lighting on the beach. But Anjuna beach is best to view sunrise from as it is a rocky beach with awesome views. Moreover, there is a restaurant named "Golden Eye" which falls on the way from Dona Julia Resort to the sea beach which serves nice sea food along with beverages. The Calangute Beach shacks aren't as good as the Baga beach ones.
I travelled to this hotel in the month of December 2016. Overall, experience was good and most I liked was enjoinment in this hotel. I went for holiday trip with my family. The destination was very good, as it cool and clean place and it was my adventure trip. The location was very good as was near to beach. The appearance was very good and best way to reach the hotel is by taxi. Booking and front office was good in the hotel. I booked it directly. The housekeeping was good and they provide room service. The room was very good, as it is clean and all amenities with working condition. There was complimentary WiFi facility available in the hotel. Food I eat from the hotel was good and they provide complimentary breakfast but not taken. Activities were held in the hotel like swimming pool was very good.
In case you are staying at Calangute, Dona-Julia is the probably the best choice you can make. The distance form the beach is hardly 50m, the rooms are large and spacious with attached balcony and if you don't feel like going to the sea there is always an option of hanging around its private pool and relax. The environment is the best for a relaxing vacation and the hotel staff is very cooperative and highly efficient. Its location is not far from the main road, and the surrounding area has good restaurants, coffee-shop, and even souvenir and handicrafts sellers. Just on the connector of the main road you get KFC, a shopping mall, ATM and other shops. So if you are planning a trip to Goa just long to their web site and book a room in advance to get a home away from home experience.
What I liked:. 1. Economic stay. 2. Located at a walking distance from the Sea Bed. Though it is about a miles (15 minutes drive) away from the main Beech area. 3. In-house staff are very supportive. 4. Carefree, comfortable stay with all the essential amenities like hot/cold water, swimming pool, WiFi, travel assistance, in-house restaurant, etc. 5. Peaceful surroundings What I don't like:. Restaurant don't have variety In General:. Liked hiring Bikes for site seeing. It is really wonderful to drive carefree as if in my hometown along with other visiting tourists. Cost of food at Goa is comparatively costlier than other parts of India and might be because of the large numbers of tourist they receive on yearly basis. But, Goa is a Dream destination which I would love to prefer over hill stations of India.
