One should visit this place if you want to have some peaceful time out from the busy city life. Good views of natural lake. One should have your own or hired conveyance to reach this place. It is about 20 kms from Ooty town. You can go down to both the water bodies. Not a single soul is nearby. Close your eyes and relax. This is a Gifted place. Green islands of Avalanche will mesmerise. The view was unbelievable. You wouldn't find any better place to have a Sunset view.

One of the unexplored or unvisited place in Ooty

Emerald lake is around 20 kms from Ooty and is a really good place for picnic or even to do camping overnight, it is very refreshing and a good place to hang out, it is still not being visited often by the tourists, so it remains clean till now.Enjoy the scenic view here and click a lot of pictures, visit here in rainy season and you'll find more greenery.Sunrise and sunset both are the best time to visit but I recommend sunrise as after sunset there might be a chance of wild animals while going back to Ooty.

Getting lost in the uninhabitated

To Ooty everybody travels on the same Kotagiri or Coonoor route, but this time we decided to find go on a new route. So we took manjoor route which is around 60 km from Karamadai, a route through forest and the check post opens by 5.30 am. The tarmac is completely worst till manjoor but the scenic beauty and the peace you encounter makes you forget about the road. From karamadai to Emerald lake en-route you will happen to see many old dams. From Emerald Lake, Ooty is just 18 km. You won't much stores or hotel rather in manjoor or kundah. The climate is pleasant and you will find a good time in this trip rather than crowded ooty.Happy riding. On the whole trip there will be 2 check post there u have to pay Rs 20 for each 2 wheeler which is not officially fixed but the cops will demand.

Beautiful lake, make your journey awesome

While going from Ooty to Coimbatore, please take route via Emerald, Avalanche, Pilloor dam. It's a beautiful journey with minimum traffic. Many times you will be alone with no one around, except some wild animals. You may sight elephants also. There are some places which allow fishing in Emerald/Avalanche lake. I am yet to try those places. This will make this journey/place even more awesome. For sophisticated types, food will be a problem, unless you have booked a room in one of the resorts near Avalanche.

Beautiful Lake amidst nature

Beautiful lake amidst nature. Great view of the mountains from here. The travel is worth it especially if you are from a metro region / city as you cannot experience this elsewhere.

Emerald Lake - The best in Ooty

Personally the best destination or must visit place in Ooty. It is so calm and the cold humidity makes the place very interesting and will visit once again. A cool breeze and most probably no other visitors.

Fantastic nature

Everywhere the problem is that, the nature is fantastic but no where you will get proper guidance or not kept clean or not up to the level of international standard of tourism.
