A heritage building standing under tall trees since 1912. Amazing to find out that Dr. Shah has such worthy son who is managing this beautiful property so well. The absolute silence of surroundings invites people to have haven for peace and poise. The management as well as staff are well trained. Goodness of their work speaks in clean and green settings. The food is like homemade, simply tasty mother's food. Service is excellent. Only one area may also be taken care of, that's current magazines and may be small corner for bookshelf. People may buy to add on their valuable memories to cherish for lifetime. This is one place which may not be decorated with stars, yet shines like brightest star in hotel and tourism of India. All are welcome to relax.
The customer friendly service of the hotel staff added an extra point to the amazing experience we had in Lansdowne. Beautiful place for a small get away and the hotel stay will make your money worth spent. Spacious rooms with complete facilities. Food was amazing. Overall, if you are looking for a getaway, this is your destination.
Food served in the resort was good. There was not enough space in the resort. Food and hospitality were very good. The location of the hotel was easy to find and reach. The hotel surroundings were good, nothing great. Services were good and staff people were friendly, helpful and very quick to respond. The interior and exterior were nice. The family rooms were very spacious with three beds. They were basically neat, clean and maintained. Pillows, bed sheets and blankets were in clean condition. The washroom was also clean. There was no problem in check-in and check-out process. They don't have any activities.
Hotel was good in terms of ambience and surroundings, with very good food quality and hospitality service. I would recommend everyone to stay in Fairy Dale only if you are planning visit to Lansdowne and please call them and pre-book your room, they might offer some discount on precooking.
This hotel is very famous in that place. Location of the hotel was good, but it is in isolated place. Appearance of the hotel like interior and exterior was good and clean. The hotel was old, but well maintained. Check-in and check-out did not take much time, it was done smoothly. The room was old type, but okay. It was family trip. All amenities were there in the room and all were working properly. It was value for money hotel. Food was good and included in the package. Staff behaviour and service provided by them was very good. Hotel is recommended to others.
Hotel location was very dangers but reached easily. I boarded at Kotdwar station and took a taxi and reached there. Room rent was Rs 1100 per head. Staff service was on time and they did friendly and cordial. Outside look and interior of the hotel was average. Swimming pool was present in the hotel but it was not maintained and nor clean. Room was comfortable. TV, bed, geyser, and other extra amenities were available in the room. Forest was appearing surrounded of the hotel. I had food there it was delicious. A car arranged by the hotel for outing but it was chargeable. I traveled this place with my friend in 2013. I belong from Delhi city. This hotel is value for money.
The destination was too good and convenient for me. The service of the staff was fine and hygienic. They were quick attentive and they serve in time. The appearance of the hotel both interior and exterior was average. The room provided to me was average and it was spacious but not so hygienic. The food was hygienic and it was good to have. I did not find any delay in check-in and check-out process. I didn't experience any activities over there. I did not experience any sightseeing facilities by them. The overall experience was money worthy and I would recommend to other travellers.

Just to escape the maddening crowd of Delhi and get a relief from the hectic schedules for last few months, we decided to pick a destination worth of absolute silence and a real 'nature' treat. Lansdowne was one of those obvious ones heard but not seen Fairy Dale resort in Lansdowne is a class of its own. Had a fantastic stay (for three days) over there in the month of February 2014 with my family. It has everything you need to have, while setting-off for a trip to peace. The heritage value of the hotel can be seen everywhere as you are around from the looks and how it's maintained amongst the hills and green. Well equipped with all amenities a traveler would need, starting from the bed, furniture, (even internet), well maintained bathrooms All services have been excellent, cordial and just when you need whatever. Food was a real treat and it couldn't be better you get the homely touch with loads of variety. Also, it's a open roof dining arrangement (if you like that adventure) just on the lap of hilly bumps, you can set the chairs and tables to enjoy the meal under Pine trees We enjoyed playing with owner's labrador dog which was too cute and friendly. We loved roaming around the cottages nearby, feels like you live the British regime once again. Overall, it has been a fabulous experience to stay in Fairy dale and I wish to visit there many more times.
College friends reunion after 11 years took us to Lansdowne this month. The four of us, all ladies with two kids booked an Innova from Delhi. Choosing an appropriate destination was crucial as we had no males to escort us, idea was to connect with friends sans the burden of husbands. Lansdowne is a british cantonment town and listed as the nearest hill station to Delhi. We figured it would be safe and easily accessible . . Booking a place was more challenging as all the places we called were full for the weekend. So we chose the weekdays and selected fairy Dale resort for a 'heritage' experience. It is a 100 yr old property. The location was lovely because of the maintained gardens and outdoor seating premises. Huge variety of plants to admire and the moonlit nights were just awesome setting for friendly banters. The resort was also centrally located as all the tourist spots were close by The rooms were a letdown because of the space though. We had booked room with two double beds. It opened into the parking lot which spoilt it for us. There was also some drainage problem in the bathroom which had no exhaust to add up. It became stuffy and smelly with so many of us sharing it. There are other room options, so negotiate. I should have asked for a picture or room dimensions first to get some idea. There were fresh towels and clean rooms but no shampoo. Just the basics, small LCD TV with cable connection was available The staff was very courteous and prompt to accommodate our requests and the food was great too. Breakfast and dinner were included in our package where they served buffet style. We stuffed ourselves to the brim. But the lunch was average and there was no printed menu with rates to check out. There are also no activity rooms available, so carry your pastime stuff Lansdowne is a pristine little town and there are just a few tourist spots to check out. We also took a half day trip to Tarkeshwar temple which was nice with Devdar trees around. But be prepared for the twists and turns as this range has winding roads. We must take medicines along if you feel puckish. Other places are all in the town and closely located. Check out the boating, sunset point, museum, churches. They play a short 20 min. Film on Gearwheel regiment in one of the churches, a must if you have a bug for history. We did and appreciated the bravery feats of this regiment. Lansdowne is a good place to visit because it's not commercial. There is nothing to shell your money on. We did find two shops for souvenirs, Very reasonable. It's not brimming with tourists so it actually feels like a getaway from the hustle bustle of the city. It took us close to 7 hrs to reach by road which we had not anticipated. The place is ideal for a short trip as there is nothing much to explore. We had a great memorable trip which has strengthened our resolve to plan more of such getaways in the future.
The hotel was conveniently located and easy to travel. No difficulties were found during searching the hotel. It was one or two kilometres far from bus stand or railway station. There were no landmarks and shopping malls located around the hotel. Appearance of the hotel from outside was good but from inside it was normal. I didn't face any problem with staff and services everything was good. There was no delay in check-in check-out time. The room was spacious, clean but room was very small. There was a view from room and it was good. Amenities like AC, TV and geyser were working well. There were no activities like swimming pool, gym. The hotel had very good parking area. The appearance of the hotel, location of the hotel was good. Behaviour of staff was normal. The room was not that much of good. Total experience in the hotel was good. It was a relaxation trip with my family. I would like to suggest one thing they should increase the size of the room.
If one wants to have a quite and relaxing weekend then this is the right place. In midst of the jungle this resort makes it own mark. It is centrally located and has all the basic amenities. The staff is really helpful, and will always be on their toes to make the guest comfortable. As far as the food is concerned, a buffet is set for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food is really delicious. You can have as much as you want and even if the kitchen timings are up they will still feed you until and unless you ask them to stop. The rooms are also quite spacious and comfortable with nice interiors. Just an advice, try to bargain for the room as we did it and where fortunately offered a good deal.
Fairydale is located in the heart of Lansdowne city. Hotel rooms are fully furnished with all essentials. Hotel staff is very cooperative and well dressed. Food is delicious and the menu is mouthwatering. You can club the food buffet with your room rent . .
