Beautiful building with good garden

It is a nice place to take rest. It closes for lunch between 1 - 2:30 pm. There are plenty of fans all over . The whole history of our freedom struggle is neatly arranged. It is really worth going through the Tamilnadu's and South India's contribution for freedom . There is a huge amphitheatre with a big stage. There is a prayer room and other rooms to stay neatly fenced with a garden. A huge place in the centre of city.

Great experience to go through the history of India

It is worth visit to learn history. The library is good having books on Gandhiji and freedom struggle. Ambience is cool and peaceful. Toilet facility is available but dirty and stinking. Drinking water is available through taps provided in the open. Armament of yester years placed in showcases are worth viewing.

Mahatma Gandhi's memorial museum, Madurai

The Gandhi Museum is one of the five sangrahalaya of Gandhi in Madurai. It's beautifully renovated by the government. In the North Wing there is an library, open air theater etc. The museum contains many books and some historic letters written by Gandhiji. The surrounding garden around the building is beautifully maintained.

A Museum to know about the life of Mahatma Gandhi

This Gandhi Museum at Madurai, was supposed to be Rani Mangammal's summer palace. Now this Museum has Gandhiji's blood-stained cloth, which Gandhiji had worn when he was shot dead. Also, it has a lot of things which was used by Gandhiji and during his time period. There is also an art museum inside the campus. The place is big and has many activities involved.

Place to learn for children

Not many South Indian children would know about the contribution of the locals to the freedom movement. Apart from the famous blood-stained dhoti no other exhibit is really good. Even the dhoti is not well preserved. It could have been easily preserved in a air-tight glass container filled with inactive gas.
