Temple of Lord Ganesha

A Beautiful Temple just ahead of Arjuna Penance. Ganesh Ratha Temple is a live temple where lord Ganesh is worshiped by pujari regularly. I prayed along with my wife on 24. 2. 2015. Nice place to visit at Mahabalipuram.

The Temple Originally Dedicated To Lord Shiva

This temple is beautifully carved inscriptions listing the royal titles of Parmeshwara Barman. This temple is built in Dravidian style. It is situated to the North of Arjuna's Penance, artistically carved from a single rock, which resembles a chariot. As it was the Shrine of Lord Shiva but now dedicated to his elephant headed son Lord Ganesha. At the place of lingam an image of Lord Ganesha is placed. Among all the ratha means chariot temples, this is the only completed structure. This is a great attraction.
